Holiday Activity Club now available for bookings through our website.

Are you looking for something fun, exciting and different for the kids this half term? Then look no further, why not book them onto our holiday Kids Clubs.
The sessions run from 10am – 2pm with everything provided including all of the equipment needed, snacks, drinks and lunch (dietary requirements can be catered for also please let us know)
Activities that will be delivered may include:
Basic fire lighting
Advanced fire lighting using bow drills and traditional flint and steel
Using forest school tools
Toasting marshmallows
Geo caching
Axe and knife throwing
Archery
Shelter building
Forest crafts
Team games
Nature walk
Outdoor cooking
We have 2 warm safe spaces on sight with heating and lighting, an outdoor composting toilet and outdoor cooking facilities. All we ask that the children bring is waterproof and warm clothing, wellies or walking boots and let us take care of the rest.
All of our staff are enhanced DBS checked, hold a level 3 outdoor first aid certificate and all the relevant qualifications to deliver the outdoor activities with over 30 years of experience working in the outdoors so you know your children will be safe and well looked after during their time with us.
The holiday club is suitable for children 10 years + we can take children younger than 10 but they must be accompanied by and adult at all times.

Here at FERN Outdoor Adventures C.I.C we can offer just that. Be it a one of session or multiple sessions we can accommodate your needs. We can build you a progressive learning program, teach your members new and exciting skills, work on team communications and skills and help build a strong future through Outdoor learning. Today we have been out exploring again to the Fairy Caves in Stanhope. A wet moring but that didn't stop us, we even brought home some extra rubbish that someone had clearly carried there and just dumped. Why ? You carried it there so just take it home 😡😡😡 anyway we did for you so don't worry.

Today we had the pleasure of hosting 13 young ladies from for an end of season activity day. We had 6 hrs of fun and laughter down in the woods on a glorious day. The girls took part in team tasks, shelter building, fire lighting, outdoor cooking, archery and axe & knife throwing. They all had a fab time and we hope to see them again soon. Good luck for next season girls when you move up to different team.

A much nicer walk today up to the Waine Stones with the students. Glorious views, a little shower but soon passed. Loved...

A much nicer walk today up to the Waine Stones with the students. Glorious views, a little shower but soon passed. Loved teaching Navigation skills to one of the students who really took to using a map and compass. Great to also bump into a couple of friends from Carlton Outdoor Centre with their groups.

We hosted a party for a young man recently and have just received this feedback from his mum. It was a pleasure to have them in the woods for a couple of hours with and to see all of the happy children playing and exploring in the outdoors.

A rather soggy walk up Roseberry Topping today. The students definitely learnt a lot about resilience today whilst on the hill. We had sun, hail, rain and wind but its one of those places I never get sick of visiting. Said hello to the old man on the top, sure he was watching down over us.

Today we had fun down by the river with bottle rockets. These always give everyone a good laugh and giggle some went really high and far, others not so much. The students all had great fun trying different amounts of water to see which worked the best with different sized bottles.

Who doesn't love a game of hide and seek. Well Ollie certainly does. Alrhough the only thing we have taught him is his recall he loves to go and find the students when they are hiding. He would have made a great search dog had I still been involved in MR, he has a natural nose to hunt and find. The students also live him being in the woods apart from when he hunts them out 🤣🤣
