Cronkley Fell Race - Saturday 12th September

🟣 A reminder that our next club organised fell race is taking place this Saturday ⚪️

⏰ Race start 2pm
🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻 Distance 17km, 570m ascent
£8/9 entry FRA/non FRA member - includes a chip butty at the finish

Anyone else back at work and missing some quality fell time with their best tiny navigator?

Tiny TWSMRT Ted covered over 190miles at the weekend without a single nap or break in running! He endured the heat, great heights, soaking rain, and even nearly drowned in a puddle! His DFR vest stopped being stripy around Tan Hill and faded to a mucky brown before Wolsingham! But he persisted to fly the TWSMRT and DFR flags, and is now warm and dry indoors.

We're hoping to find a permanent home for him in the future where he can commemorate the relay effort and funds raised for years to come!

ULTRA-GREAT EFFORTS
Last night DFR set the benchmark time to beat as the first people to complete a continuous relay of the route around the to raise funds for Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team!

Two of our team mates made an ultramarathon distance during the relay!

Dave ran the furthest of anyone in the club, clocking up 51km, half of which were done solo!!

Skye ran 47km over 3 different sessions, back to backing 2 legs from Blanchland to Wolsingham!

00:10- FINISHED!! 🥳🥳🥳
42 hours and 10 minutes. The first EVER continuous completion of the Roof of England route!

We were so excited to be joined at the end by Max and his handler Des, who has been part of mountain rescue for 35 years. Their invaluable work is why we have been out here all weekend in midge hell and literal high water! Without them to call on, we would all be a lot less safe on our beloved fells.

21:27 Leg 13 complete- LAST LEG UNDERWAY!!
Sandrine and Carron did a brilliant job seeing us into the night and facing some heavy rain at the very end of their leg! The last leg is now underway with Andrew, Andrew and Iain seeing us back home to St John's Chapel! Can we get home by midnight???

18:30 - Leg 12 complete!
Skye and Issie did an incredible job in pouring rain and rumbling thunder to bring our relay into Wolsingham!
They handed the baton over to Sandrine and Carron, who are running into Stanhope! It's getting dark now and the rain is setting in!
