A fantastic Vale Pairs Open was played out yesterday with the course in great condition and an entry of 120 players.

An eye watering 50 points was clearly enough to win the title, coming from a rejuvenated Ben Maiden & Rob Wylie.

Thanks again to everyone who came along last night, played to a variety of levels and then ‘enjoyed’ the Blind Pairs draw.

For those that missed the evening fun, the highest score of the night was a 22 from Carl Thomas and the lowest a 7 from one of the players of the season, John Allchin!

For the majority of the evening there was only one player that had managed to make a two and that was Carl Thomas, who actually made bird on both the par threes... It was looking like Carl would take the entire roll over pot, that was until a few in the later times put their hands in till, with Alex Clasen, Martin Fawcett and Andy Butlin taking a share.

The main event saw the random pairing of Andy Faulkner and Dave Rigby take the top prize with 39 points, followed by the runners up Jon Newell and Jon James, with the joint third place prize going to Ady Smith & Kerry Pytlik and Kieran Hawkes & Craig Whiting both on 34.

For those that weren’t there for the prizes, I have you money and will catch up with you.

The traditional Founders Day Competition was completed against a full spectrum of weather conditions.

Late replacement Alex Livingstone led his team of Adam Flintham and Ken Vincent to victory with 82 points. Vice Captain Mallows, Geoff Akers & Ian Buchan followed in second place.

The Past Captains trophies were a family clean sweep with the Sidwell’s Audrey & Trevor taking the spoils.

Alex added the Captains Guest Trophy to his collection with 40 points. Adam Flintham took home the bottles for NTP and Longest Drive. Whilst Sue Vincent and Emily Langston did the same for the Ladies.

The day was rounded off with a splendid supper to celebrate 35 years of The vale Golf & Country Club.

Thunderous clouds, a day of rain and some monsoon scoring from a few in the field…

Our Club Night Champion 2026, came home with an unbelievable 25 points, as Stuart Knott posted his be of this summers highest scores to take the crown.

He was followed in the distance by Andy Faulkner, who himself shot a brilliant 22 points to come in as runner up, ahead on countback of David Court on the same score.

The Final prize boosted twos pot was plundered by Andy Faulkner, Jorden Fox, Joe Jarvis, Dec & Lee Juliff.

Meanwhile in the normal Club Night, D3 was taken by Neal Speight on 22 points, followed by Ross Baker on debut with 19 and Janice Rigby in third with 18 points.

D2 was taken by John Eastoe with a lovely 23 points, with Jason Wright and Lee Hodgkins both on 18.

The top tier was won by Adam Flintham after a rare appearance with his 21 points, followed by Ady Smith and Rob Millward again both on 19 points.

There were NO twos scored so the prize fund rolls into next weeks blind pairs Club Night.

Thank you to everyone who stuck with it tonight and took on the elements. It really was worth it in the end and there were some superb scores posted.

The fun continues next week, so don’t forget to book in as usual on Sunday.

The August monthly Stableford saw a familiar face at the top of D1 and a new one taking D2.

Captain Rob Millward, swept the top division away with his 40 points, putting him one ahead of perennial prize hunter Dave Carter on 39 and Ant Witt in third with 37.

The wild west of D2 again threw a new shot laden hero to the top of the charts, with Simon Smith launching a 44 point attack to leave him miles ahead of a distant Martin Foley, who could only manage 40 himself and of course John Ferguson, picking up at least something...

Two's came from Dave Carter, Stew Shelley, Paul Chadwick and Simon Smith.

Well played everyone.
