💚⚽️ Birtley 5 - 2 Chester Blacks ⚽️💚
A cracking start for the girls against a tricky and determined opposition in Chester Blacks.
From the off, Birtley showed what they were made of with good team passing and support, rewarded in the 6th minute when the ball ended in the back of the net with Sophie finishing at the back post from a superb corner from Eve.
Joy lasted only a minute when Chester, pressurising from a goal kick scored themselves.
This just spurred Birtley on with a dominant attacking phase with Darcey slotting the ball home to make it 2-1. And this is how it stayed for the duration of the first half with both teams jousting back and forth for territory, possession and chances in front of goal.
Second half started with Birtley again in dominance from the off, creating chance after chance, getting a foot hold in play.
Ruby received her just desserts for her constant chasing down of some wonderful through balls making it 3-1 on 53 mins.
But Chester were not to be silenced with another goal on 73 mins, worked well between their forwards.
With it being 3-2 and having worked so hard for one another through the whole game, legs being tired, birtley could’ve folded.
The complete opposite happened. It gelled the team together to grab two further goals from Sophie and Ruby to complete a terrific performance by all.
