Birmingham Transplant Football Club Raising awareness of organ and stem cell donation. Showing what’s possible post-transplant. All players are transplant recipients.

All fitness and abilities welcome! ⚽💜 Birmingham Transplant FC is more than just a football club. We aim to raise awareness of organ and stem cell donation and inspire new transplant recipients by showing what is possible post-transplant. All our players have received a life-saving transplant of some kind. We take part in transplant football tournaments, friendlies, charity matches and hold monthly training sessions.

A debut World Cup for Matt Marshall

Diagnosed with psc aged 19 and had my transplant at 21. Day to day life feels so so much better than before. I have been able to go on and finish my university course and continue playing football at a good level amongst many other things, which are all possible thanks to my donor ❤️. I am looking forward playing and hopefully winning the World Cup in September.

Meet our second keeper Jon Bailey

Diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis which evolved into PSC, and was very very unwell
for majority of teens/twenties having large intestines removed in 2011 due to ulcerative
colitis before getting a liver transplant in 2021. Having a transplant saved my life and the
kept my family together as we were just starting out on our journey. We now get do
everything we want at full speed and we will be forever grateful to my donor and her family.
Im really excited about the world cup, to share stories from around the world, honour our
donors and be as competitive as we can to bring it home.

Next up is our Captain.

Diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia at 17. After a year of transfusions, unsuccessful treatments and time in isolation with very low immunity, he underwent a bone marrow transplant shortly after turning 18. Many years later, Transplant Football gave Rowan the chance to reconnect with the game he loved. “Now I have children of my own, having them there to watch me play makes it even more special. Hopefully we can raise awareness of organ and stem cell donation showing the huge difference it makes to people’s lives.”
