City Of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club - Developing Basketball In Birmingham Since 2003

From the start it was decided that City Of Birmingham Basketball Club needed to:

■ Provide England Basketball (EB) Qualified Coaches
■ Provide opportunities for boys and girls up to the age of 18 and, as and when possible financially, to provide opportunities beyond the age of 18
■ Enter teams from U12 to U18 in the National England Basketball Leagues
■ Develop relationships with schools in the a

rea and offer Basketball awareness to local Primary Schools
■ Hold Open Trials each year so that ANYONE interested in Basketball could have an opportunity to further their talents
■ Develop our players from a young age and continue that development as they progress through the age groups in the club
■ Provide Coaching and Game opportunities at the lowest possible cost commensurate with the use of a high standard of facilities.
■ Keep costs low none of the Coaches or Volunteers are paid: all give their time out of a commitment to develop Basketball in the area.
■ Most importantly, to provide a welcoming, friendly and sociable Club in which all members are treated with respect, as individuals and enabled to develop their Basketball to the highest level possible

Birmingham Rockets are delighted to confirm the return of Coach Charles Smith as our Men’s First Team Head Coach for the 2026/27 British Championship Basketball (BCB) season.

🏆 Coach Smith and his team made history last season, bringing the BCB Trophy back to Birmingham to mark the city’s first major basketball honour since the Birmingham Bullets’ Playoff success back in 1998.

What an incredible way to close out the 2025/26 season! COB Rockets Ignite are officially Under 9s Champions, taking a thrilling 6–4 overtime victory over Northants Storm Gold in Tamworth! 🚀✨

This season’s shift to the YBL 3x3 format has been a huge success — putting fundamentals, decision‑making, and skill development at the heart of the game, and creating a clear pathway for our youngest athletes as they grow.

“What an incredible milestone for our Rockets family! Lifting the trophy is a special moment, but the real success story is the strength of our entire Minis programme.

At this foundational stage, our mission goes way beyond the scoreboard. Huge congratulations to Abdul Malik Olajuwon, who has just won GOLD at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 with Canada defeating the USA 67–65 in a dramatic final to end their seven-title dynasty! 🚨

Malik started his junior basketball journey right here with us at Birmingham Rockets, and watching him reach this level fills the whole club with enormous pride.

A fantastic day of basketball hosting Éanna Basketball! 🏀🇬🇧🇮🇪

Both teams took part in a high‑quality skills session led by our U12 Head Coach, Tameem Francis, before competing in a high‑energy game with great runs on both sides. The Rockets dug deep for a strong finish, taking the win with a thrilling buzzer‑beater. Outstanding sportsmanship was shown throughout.
