Everyone thinks memories stay tucked neatly in our minds... but that's only the polite version of the truth.
Some hide in the folds of winter scarves.
Some cling to the steam of hot chocolate.
Some curl up inside old lullabies and wait for someone to hum them again.
Far beyond the frost-tipped rooftops, the Lantern-Lit Realm of Echoes is beginning to stir. Lanterns are blinking awake one by one. The caretakers -small, cozy figures with glowing tools and patient hands- shuffle about, warming their lanterns, polishing their jars of captured echoes, preparing for the season ahead. Winter is coming, and soon they'll be needed.
But not yet.
For now, the Realm simply watches.
Beatrice, with her heart full of stitched-up treasures.
Teddy, catching new memories as quickly as snowflakes land on his sleeves.
Two generations sharing stories, laughter, and the gentle glow of an ordinary winter evening - unaware that something magical is stretching, yawning, and getting ready just beyond the veil.
