Definitely going to take some heat for this, and have to credit (love what you do 👊)

‘Giving it a chance’ by racing it 6ft past is still a strategy I see, it doesn’t work! Hole becomes smaller and you greatly increase the chances of leaving yourself one coming back that you are statistically likely to miss

Not great at putting??? Let’s fix that!

Multiple ways to get it done, and ultimately if you can

✅Read it well
✅Get the right pace
✅Hit your start line

You’ll be doing pretty well, and if you can do all the above with a funky grip or set up then stick with it

Most however struggle with all 3, and start like and pace come down to both technique and skill, and for most golfers they will have more success if they can

🎯Set the putter correctly at set up
🎯Use visual tech on ball and putter
🎯Reduce body movement as they putt
🎯Limit wrist movement
🎯Deliver a touch of shaft lean at impact

You will also ‘look’ better if you have a custom designed putter, so drop the comment ‘my spider’ below and I’ll shoot you a DM on how you can do that

🚨Stop the Shanks🚨

Heel strikes, must mean you need to get the hands closer to you……. in fact, the opposite may be true

If the grip gets move inwards towards you too early in the downswing it can kick the club head out and move the strike to the heel. The end of the grip absolutely should move up and inward through impact, but when is key

Ian was moving the grip inwards too early, kicking the club out and hitting pulls and seeing the strike move towards the heel

Sometimes the ‘logical’ solution isn’t the right one

Fix it or forget it! 🤷🏻‍♂️ (may get myself in trouble here 😬)

When you look at your swing, let’s be honest, you’re going to see quite a few things that you don’t love…. but they don’t all need fixing for you to play better golf

Now just to cover my back, every golfer is unique, one may need to fix a strong grip whilst the next can leave it along and improve regardless, so don’t come at me for these 😂

Some faults are just harder to play good golf with than others, and knowing that may help you make some better decisions about your own game, because that’s the game here, improving your own swing and game 👊

I’m all for developing technique to help with club face control, but let’s not forget that there is a skill there too

This is such simple game that requires zero equipment, obviously club and some balls, that can help you develop and hone the skill of simply controlling the club face through your hands and arms.

The key here is to try and get all 3 delivery positions to look the same, so the face delivered at impact is due to the release rather than a pre set face angle.

If you can hit it left and right, there’s one in the middle somewhere 😁
