Congratulations to member and County Captain, Tom Godfrey, who set a new course record with a sensational bogey-free round of 62 gross in the Tuesday Fiddle on 16th June. Playing off a +2 handicap, Tom's remarkable score also earned him 42 Stableford points and winning the competition, only by one point though!
Starting on the back nine, Tom was already six under par through his opening nine holes, recording birdies on the 10th, 11th, 13th and 15th, before producing an eagle on the 18th. He continued his excellent form on the front nine with further birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes, before closing with five consecutive pars to complete an outstanding round.
The signs of a record-breaking performance had been there, with Tom also recording an excellent gross 64 in the Saturday Extra Medal on 30th May, demonstrating the superb form he has shown throughout the season.
Tom's score of 62 surpasses the previous course record of 63, set by Roman Croft in 2024, by a single shot.
A fantastic achievement and a round that will undoubtedly be remembered for many years to come. Congratulations, Tom!
Good luck to all our members shooting the same score over the weekend!
