Summerfield Stables Summerfield Stables is a community stables and registered charity which provides a permanent home to rescued and re-schooled ponies.

Summerfield Stables is a community group that has been established over forty three years. Its aim is to encourage children and young people in the Yardley Wood area of Birmingham to understand and interact with horses. The young people who visit the stables are mostly between the ages of seven and eighteen and come from the surrounding areas, including Yardley Wood, Hall Green, Balsall Heath, Ki

ngs Heath and Billesley. We also encourage children with both mental and physical disabilities. As well as young people there are many adults who volunteer at the stables and everyone is welcome to contribute in order to benefit the horses

Join us throughout the summer holidays for pony days full of fun. Learning to ride and care for the horses throughout the holidays. These sessions are suitable for all abilities and run on a Monday and Thursday 9 till 3 o’clock.

Reminder- no lessons thia weekend!!

Summerfield Stables party announcement!

We are delighted to invite all Summerfield members past and present to a party on the 12th July. This is a family friendly party and we would love to welcome you to spend the day with us in celebration of Matthew and Georgina's wedding. It will be a vegetarian bring and share lunch (non alcoholic drinks only!) and we would love to see you all there.

We will be rearranging lessons on the 11th and 12th July in order to get set up for the party so we will contact affected riders as soon as possible. Out of respect for our neighbours on Brookwood Avenue (who are also welcome) please use the carpark at Yardley Wood Station unless you habe mobility needs. If you will require access parking please let us know.

All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult but if you are coming as a family younger siblings are welcome!

The yard at Summerfield feels just a little empty at the moment. Within a short time of each other we have sadly lost our wooliest residents. Both were an advanced age and died of natural causes (before the heatwave) but we are still very sad to lose them. Both were always tempted by a snack and just loved to be part of everything on the yard. They were occasionally known to pop in to an exam or lesson and join in with whatever was going on. Their curious and gentle nature will be missed by everyone.

☀️Extreme Heat Alert!☀️

The Met Office has issued a red heat alert that covers Birmingham from 9AM tomorrow to 9PM Thursday.

To help ensure client and equine safety, please be aware our instructors may adapt lessons or substitute riding with horse care. This is for the safety and wellbeing of all.

Please also adhere to the following safety measures:
🚗 Please ensure you pick up your child promptly at the end of the session to minimise waiting in the heat.
👕 Please dress appropriately for the weather using clothing made of breathable fabrics. Please note that riding in shorts, sandals, or open-toed footwear is not permitted due to health and safety.
🧴 Use a strong SPF sunscreen to prevent sunburns
💧 Please bring a water bottle and remain hydrated throughout the session
🌡️ Please let our staff know if your child is more prone to heat-related illness or has any relevant medical conditions.

Our Solihull Camps are now bookable on ECpro.

These camps are suitable for riders who have camped with us before or are older teenagers who are confident riding a variety of horses and riding in open places. We will have a camp at Summerfield suitable for younger riders and riders who are new to riding.

Please contact us if you are unable to see the activities as it could be down to rider grading.

Payments are also available by installments.

We have an early bird offer until the 4th of July - paying in full before this date secures your place at 2025 prices!
