What a weekend we have in store as the season reaches its business end, with two of our senior sides chasing more cup glory! 💚💛

It’s the final league Saturday of the season, and a chance for the Club to enjoy their first games since the 1sts secured the Cumbria Premier League title last weekend! 🏆

A brilliant achievement from the lads, but there’s still cricket to be played and plenty to enjoy as they look to finish the league campaign strongly against Wigton.

🏏 Cumbria T20 Finals Day 🏏

What a day of T20 cricket at Workington’s Ernest Valentine Cricket Ground yesterday! ☀️🏏

The 1st XI came into Finals Day looking to lift the Cumbria T20 trophy and got off to the perfect start in the semi-final against Furness.

🔥 Semi-Final
Cockermouth 125/0 beat Furness 124/5 by 10 wickets

A brilliant all-round performance, with Matthew Sempill leading the way with a superb 77* from 55 balls, supported by Alex Grainger 38*. With the ball, Josh Brown (2/21) and Matthew Sempill (2/23) did the damage.

A special mention for Sempy, sponsored by G&K Minshaw Builders and Cockermouth Podiatry, who was named Player of the Match. 👏

That set up a final against Workington, and another entertaining game followed.

🏆 Final
Cockermouth 123/9 lost to Workington 141/5 by 18 runs

Ryan Carruthers, sponsored by Designer Travel by Leanne Smyth gave us plenty to cheer about with an excellent 50 from 34 balls, to earn our player of the match. Matthew Sempill again chipped in with 2/22.

It wasn’t to be in the final, but plenty to be proud of from the team on an entertaining Finals Day.

👏 Congratulations to Workington on winning the Cumbria T20 title, and thanks to everyone who came along and supported the team throughout the day.

On to the next one- the Higson Cup Final on Sunday v Furness at Dalton! 💚💛

🏏 Weekend Results Round-Up 🏏

CHAMPIONS 💚💛

🏆 1st XI – LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! 🏆
Another brilliant performance saw the 1sts beat Dalton by 9 wickets, with Alex Grainger, sponsored by Revivo at Tithe House, once again leading the way. A superb 6-29 with the ball, followed by an unbeaten 52 with the bat, earned Alex Player of the Match.

And, most importantly… that victory seals the Cumbria Premier League title! 🎉

After 8 years of waiting, the league trophy is coming back to Cockermouth! 🏆💚💛
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in what has been a fantastic season.

👏 2nd XI

A tough afternoon with the bat as the 2nds were bowled out for 76 in reply to Egremont’s 221/8. When extras are your second-highest scorer with 15, you know it’s been a challenging one! 😬

There were positives with the ball, though, as Hallam Browne took 4-30 and Patrick Williams 3-29, with Patrick, sponsored by Cumbrian Ales taking the Player of the Match award, for his all round performance including fielding like a cheetah!

The second fixture against Egremont this weekend in the Marsden Cup Final was unfortunately abandoned after just 7.4 overs as the rain dampened things. Good news is that the fixture will be replayed on 12th September- weather dependent 🤞

But what a weekend to be a Cockermouth cricketer! 💚💛

🏏 The Week Ahead at Cockermouth CC 🏏

It’s the FINAL WEEK of the season… and what a season it’s been! 💚💛

🏆 Fresh from being crowned Cumbria Premier League champions this weekend, our 1st XI have T20 Finals Day tomorrow before one final league fixture to round off a fantastic campaign. They head to Wigton on Saturday before facing Furness again on Sunday in the Higson Cup Final at Dalton CC, looking to add more silverware to an already memorable season! 🏆

🏏 The 2nd XI welcome Threlkeld to the Raymond Denham Oval on Saturday, while…

🏆 Sunday brings another 2 cup finals! Our 3rd XI take on Workington at home in the Burton Cup Final, looking to cap off their season with a second trophy after their league title success! 🏆
And the under 13s squeeze in their area league decider at Temple Sowerby before the season closes.
So, one final big week of cricket. Three cup finals. Three chances for silverware.

Let’s finish the season in style and get behind the lads and lasses! 💚💛
