England Athletics and the University of Birmingham Athletics Club are hosting a Para Athletics Taster Day 2 on 29th May, 10:00–13:00 at the University of Birmingham athletics track.

Open to anyone aged 5–25 with a disability, including physical, intellectual or visual impairments, participants will have the opportunity to try a range of Para Track & Field events including sprints, jumps, throws, seated throws and racing wheelchairs.

Whether you are trying athletics for the first time or looking to get involved in Para sport, this is a great opportunity to give it a go and find out more about continuing in athletics.

July Reflections: Learning, Connection & Stepping Into the Role

July has been a month full of growth, connection, and exciting opportunities in my new role. Here are some highlights:

• Officer Training: Kicked off the month with intensive officer training.

• BUCS Conference at University of Hull: Had the opportunity to attend the BUCS Conference, a fantastic space for networking and collaborating with other student leaders. Key takeaways included building meaningful connections, tackling shared challenges in university sports, and shaping a more inclusive sporting culture.

• Graduation Ceremonies: It was a real honour to represent the Guild at the graduation for the College of Medical and Health, celebrating students achievements and their next steps.

• Chancellor’s Dinner: Grateful to have attended this inspiring evening, recognising excellence and creating bonds across our university community.

• Official Start – 14th July: Officially stepped into my role as Sports Officer and began advocating for our student community in full swing.

• NUS Lead & Change: Joined sabbatical officers from across the UK to share best practices in student leadership, representation, and making impactful change on campus.

Excited for what’s ahead!

Sport Access Fund is now re-open!!! Click the link in my bio to check if you’re eligible. The fund aims to help students access sport both on and off campus. From gym memberships, to travel or equipment, the fund has lots of different ways to help you. So head to the link in my bio and check it out. The application form is open for 2 weeks so don’t wait! Application deadline: Monday 14th April 12pm.
