A very long and hot weekend in London at the English Closed Championships.
A fairly small contingent from the club made the journey to the capital for this years event.
On Day one, we had Bence, Isaac and Michael competing in the PreCadets.
Isaac fought very well throughout narrowly missing out on a medal in the U42kg weight group finishing 5th.
Michael, moving up to u55kg, had a good go at this level but couldn't secure a win.
Bence, at u34kg, made it look easy with 4 wins to take gold.🥇
We also had Daisy fighting, for the first time, in the u52kg Cadets. Her judo was excellent but a few silly mistakes in this sport can cost. 5th place is a great achievement and better thigs will come.
Day 2 saw Lewis fighting in his new age group at u60kg. He fought very well all day and was winning the Bronze medal match when he twisted his knee and had to withdraw. Another 5th place.
Reece was up next in the Senior u60kg category.
This was a massive step up for him and he was probably the lowest grade in the weight. He put a good fight but also couldn't get a win.
Last up was Ruby in the Senior u70kg division. A great first round win, took her to the semi finals. She was 2 scores up, and looking likely to get to yhe ginal when she was cought for 10. She went on to win the bronze medal match. 🥉
