Good morning!
Better late than never!
Bank holiday Sunday saw our inaugural T20 remembrance cricket match, giving players and members a chance to remember, and raise a glass to all those that we knew and loved.
The day started with the unveiling of our new memorial bench, for our friend and Vice- Chairman Mark Wood, to his son, and 1st XI Captain Joe Wood.
Unfortunately! following one of the best summers for a long time, the rains had arrived towards the end of the week, resulting in Saturdays cricket matches to be postponed, and the square left wet and damp.
With a break in the clouds, we decided that we would play a match on one of our training strips, with players from each side batting in pairs. I'm sure for people watching, it was difficult to understand what was going on? But believe me! the players on the pitch did (Well I think they did) 🤣🤣🤣
The game finished with a victory for Steve Walkers team, narrowly beating Joe Woods team, in a highly enjoyable game. Well played lads.
Throughout the day, we had fantastic support from Pam & Alan whom provided us all with burger & sausage batches (They were that good that the Chairman managed to demolish three, yes 3 😉) Sylvie, Thomas, Lucy, Mavis on the bar and every other job to ensure the day ran smoothly, and support from Rhys, Billy and not forgetting DJ Dave & Jake for providing much entertainment for the kids (and adults) as Spiderman and the Mario Brothers. If I havent mentioned you? Sorry, But Thanks for your help.
On behalf of TVCC I would to Thank everyone that played and helped throughout the day, and all those people that turned up to support us, as we raised a glass or two, to those that we have lost
'Thank you'
