⚽️MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IS BACK⚽️

I can think of worse ways to spend a Monday morning than than posting from the poolside in Altea where it’s 27 degrees. 😊☀️☀️

However, our hardworking coaches will be starting the new season tonight at Bebington Oval with our Monday night session for Year 3 & 4 players. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Nothing really changes in Football. For holiday reading I’m learning about Lancastrian, Jimmy Hogan, the original “Father of Football” who travelled around Europe to begin his coaching journey more than 100 years ago.

He inspired the Dutch, the French, the Swiss, the Austrian “Wunderteam” of the 1930s and most famously the Hungarian “Mighty Magyars” of the 1950s.

His message was always the same.

Players must be able to control a ball with one touch, dribble, feint and turn as well as make short accurate passes to team mates supporting off the ball.

More than a century later these are still the building blocks for our young players.

This week we are focusing on dribbling. For me it’s the most exciting part of the game. I love watching young players trying to beat their opponent with tricks and skills.

Who can be the next Messi, Salah, Ronaldo? Can’t wait to get started ⚽️⚽️⚽️

It doesn’t seem 2 minutes since our first soccer school in 2012 was delivered just days after our coach, Matt Edwards, made his international debut for Scotland Under 21s. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A few years later, another of our coaches, Georgia Walters, played her first game for Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Now we’re very proud to see one of our old players, Carter Pinnington, called up to the England Under 18 squad. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👏👏👏

Carter was part of a crop of outstanding players we were privileged to work with during our time at Soccerloco. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Along with Hadyn Murray-Holme and Zak Coxon he’s one of three who are still excelling at Liverpool with plenty of others at various clubs throughout the north west.

Fingers crossed that they all continue their amazing journey in the game we all love.🤞

After a summer of fun our current players return to weekly classes on Monday 9th September. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

What a fantastic week at Shootin Boots Wirral finishing with a brilliant Pre-School session yesterday morning. 👏👏👏

Our youngest players are demonstrating amazing ball control and it’s great to see how quickly they’ve picked up the “drag back” turn. Well done everyone 👍⚽️

“Futsal Friday” was back with a bang. Fantastic technique combined with brilliant attitudes from every player made it a fun filled session 🥅🥅🥅⚽️

Our coaching theme this week was “Receiving The Ball” and interesting to see comments in the media this week around England’s midfield players not receiving the ball on the “half turn” in order to play forward.

I was lucky enough to spend time earlier this month with two great Everton midfielders. Peter Reid and Paul Bracewell.

We had a fascinating chat about this aspect of the game with Reidy in particular feeling that Everton’s current midfield players receive the ball with their back to goal rather than on the half turn making forward passes very difficult.

At Shootin Boots we’re excited to help our players develop this aspect of their game enabling them to create more chances and score more goals ⚽️⚽️⚽️

🥅⚽️⚽️FUTSAL FRIDAY IS BACK⚽️⚽️🥅

We’re excited that Futsal is back this Friday at New Ferry Village Hall at 5:00pm.

It’s a fantastic, dynamic game that Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar all played as youngsters.

Players can play with freedom and without fear whilst developing their technique and tactical skills.
