Congratulations to everyone who graded today, and last week!

Everyone tried their hardest and no one can ask for any more than that.

Next week is the final week in this grading cycle, where we will grade any one who was unable to attend the last two weeks, and finish off with our students going from Blue to Brown belt.

Today we said goodbye to Renshi Martin Rogers.

Martin was many things to many people. A son, a brother, a partner, a friend, a collegue, a mentor, a teacher, a symbol of strength and calm and so much more.

Our thoughts go out to the Rogers family . I'd like to wish them all the warmth, love and happiness going forward. And on behalf of the people of Wirral and Merseyside, a massive hug and a thank you for everything.

Even in the darkest of times, you have been a symbol of strength and kindness to so many. The world needs more Rogers.

Words are failing me at my sadness for his loss. Many of you here will have a huge number of happy memories with Sensei Martin, a man who embodied the spirit of Judo.

Saturday will be our last class of the Year and will be held by Sensei Pete, and Sensei Dan.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Renshi Martin Rogers 5th Dan.

Martin taught Judo along side his Father, Dave Rogers for many years at the Birkenhead Tech College, Shaftesbury Boys Club, Leasowe Recreation Centre, Bidston Tennis Centre and West Kirby Concourse but to name a few.

Martin was a kind and generous soul, willing to give advice and perspective to all when they asked. He was passionate about the development of people, not just the martial arts.

He made the mats feel welcome and all who attended were family.

Martin will be greatly missed. All our love to the Rogers family and all colleagues, friends and students, past and present.
