Well the first children's exercise class went down a storm,

When I first put the idea out about doing it, I wasn't sure how it would be received and tonight I was more nervous than the kids, but all the children got stuck into the session and were more than enthusiastic. Was great to see a group of kids who've never met have fun with each other while exercising. Great to see 👏👏👏

I had an interesting conversation this week about nutrition and weight loss.

It seems more and more people are turning to weight loss injections, pills, patches, shakes, and other quick-fix solutions. And while these tools may have a place for some individuals, it got me thinking...

If you had an overweight child, would your first thought be to put them on medication, patches, or meal replacement shakes?

Or would you encourage them to be more active, spend less time sitting down, get outside, move their body, and improve the quality of the food they're eating?

What about if your dog became overweight?

Most owners wouldn't immediately ask for a weight loss injection. They'd probably reduce the treats, feed them appropriately, and take them for more walks and exercise.

So why do we often treat ourselves differently?

The human body hasn't suddenly become incapable of losing weight. In many cases, we've simply moved less, eaten more ultra-processed foods, and become disconnected from the habits that support good health.

Weight loss isn't just about getting lighter. It's about building a healthier body, improving fitness, creating sustainable habits, and feeling better for the long term.

The question isn't whether a drug can help you lose weight.

The question is: are you also willing to address the lifestyle habits that caused the weight gain in the first place?

Daniel Clarke approached me wanting a plan and structure in place with regards to his nutrition and training after putting weight on after breaking is fibula before Christmas.

Dan's goals were to reduce body fat/weight and increase strength and fitness.

We set out a routine that worked around long hours running the butchers, being a dad, husband and social life.

Dan bought into the plan and committed himself perfectly and his results show that, well done mate

Weight ⬇️ 26.5lbs (1 stone 12.5lbs)
Hydration ⬆️ 3.5%
Visceral Fat ⬇️ 3 levels
Body fat % ⬇️ 4.8%

Chest ⬇️ 0.8cm
Hip ⬇️ 7.9cm
Waist ⬇️ 11.4cm

I'm really pleased to have received such a positive response to my children's exercise and fitness classes.

It's clear there is a real interest in helping children become more active, build confidence, and develop healthy habits from a young age. Physical activity is about so much more than fitness, it plays a huge role in supporting mental wellbeing, self-esteem, social skills, and overall development.

I'd love to get more children involved and create a positive, encouraging environment where they can have fun, stay active, make friends, and grow in confidence. Every child deserves the opportunity to feel good about themselves while learning the importance of movement and healthy living.

"I didn't overindulge though."

This is one of the biggest lies people tell themselves when trying to lose weight.

✅They go off plan.
✅They have the takeaway.
✅They snack on the biscuits.
✅They have the extra drinks.
Then they justify it by saying:
"But it's okay, I didn't overindulge."

The problem is you're comparing your choice to a worse choice, not to the goal you're trying to achieve.

Not eating the whole packet of biscuits is better than eating the whole packet.

Having 3 drinks is better than having 10.

Ordering a burger without dessert is better than ordering both.

But "better than worse" doesn't automatically mean "helpful for fat loss."

Successful weight loss isn't about constantly avoiding the worst possible decision.
It's about consistently making decisions that move you closer to your goal.

Stop asking:
"Was it as bad as it could have been?"
Start asking:
"Did this help me get where I want to go?"

Because progress isn't built on avoiding disasters.
It's built on repeatedly doing the things that work.

I’ll be trialling fitness sessions for children aged 10–15 years old 💪 (anyone younger would require parent guardian to stay, age dependent)

These sessions are designed to help young people:
✅ Build confidence
✅ Learn about exercise
✅ Improve their understanding of health & fitness
✅ Develop positive habits in a supportive environment

The aim is to create a fun, motivating space where kids can grow physically and mentally while learning the importance of staying active, using a mixture of body weight, cardio and core exercises.

Please note: these sessions are not intended to be free childcare. Participation, effort, and respect will be expected from everyone attending.
