So ‘wind futures’ is officially launched and almost on the water. Here’s a few photos from the first bunch of 16 - 21 year old hopefuls wanting to grab one of those 6 spots for fully sponsored Kitesurf lessons courtesy of and . I’m personally super stoked at this initiative to get more young people into this incredible sport, stay tuned for more updates real soon.

We had these lovely ladies out over the bank holiday weekend for a 60th birthday sunrise SUP session. It was an early start for all involved but the fire and breakfast on the beach made it really special. We don’t promote the SUPs enough but we’re definitely still in the game. If anyone ever wants to get out just give us a call ❤️🏴‍☠️🙌🏼

Another client arriving at kite pirates after struggling in big waves at other venues. By the time Josh finished his session he was nailing his transitions. Obviously loved every minute and so did I. We’re back out again tomorrow with 1 space left if anyone else wants to improve their kiting over night!!!

Following straight on from my success with Stanley came Mimi. She tried desperately to get out over winter but just couldn’t make things line up. However the break didn’t seem to hurt much as she hit the water and totally smashed it!!

Last time I took my son out I asked the question 'Can you lead a horse to water and make him drink?’ Answer, NO!
However when he returns on his own steam 3 years later there’s no stopping him. Smashed the board retrieval drag and lifting himself gently out of the water. Can’t wait to get him back out again. Watch this space for kite loops!!!!

A new community-led initiative launching this spring is giving young people in Thanet and East Kent the opportunity to take part in kitesurfing, with lessons and equipment funded as part of a pilot…

Wind Futures, a funded kitesurfing programme for young people aged 16–21 in East Kent and Thanet.
Lessons and equipment are covered, aimed at those who wouldn’t normally be able to access the sport.
Supported by Vattenfall, with additional support from King of Watersports. Lessons conducted by Kite Pirates.
We’ll be shortlisting applicants and inviting them to a taster session, with final places selected from there.

Right from the start the kiteschool has been about bringing families together! We’ve had every combination of father, mother, sons and daughters come and try kiting. A great many still do it together today. I’m still praying I can get my youngest to crack it, hopefully this summer🙏
