Apparently September is a good time to introduce yourself. Since I haven’t done so in a while, and there are some lovely new followers here, I thought, why not?
My name is Katya, short for Katerina, but except for one person, nobody calls me by my full name.
I was born and brought up in the Czech Republic, and I came to England 30 years ago to study English. I’ve always had an affinity with all things English, and somehow I’ve fitted in. I guess it’s my dry sense of humour 😆.
I am a yoga teacher with varied interests in Somatics, energy and sound healing (you may not know that I’m a Reiki Master), nutrition, Ayurveda, Chinese Five Element Theory, meditation and other Eastern practices.
I’ve dipped my toes into many practices and disciplines, being a seeker and a nerd, but yoga is, and probably always will be, my first love.
I’ve been teaching since 2013 and in 2015 I fulfilled my dream of opening my own studio. I feel very lucky to do what I love, and I enjoy helping people to settle, find stillness and connect to their own inner wisdom. I’ve been told many times that my calm nature helps people to relax.
I genuinely love spending time in the gym, lifting weights. I’m stronger in my 50s than I’ve been in any other decade of my life.
I have green fingers and love growing flowers, herbs, fruits and veggies, and creating meals from whatever produce I have available.
If I wasn’t teaching yoga, my second choice would be catering for yoga events (which I do on a small scale for my own retreat days).
I love nature, and as I get older, I appreciate all of the seasons and the different gifts they offer.
I don’t have a social media strategy. I don’t use hooks or follow trends. I use mostly my own pictures and I share what inspires me, my yoga offerings and some positive vibes. Nothing too polished, because life isn’t like that.
So, that’s a little bit about me. I’m always learning, always curious, always coming back to my mat.
If you are new here, welcome. And if you’ve been around for a while, thank you for being here. I’m very happy you are. 💕
