Keighley Albion are delighted to announce that John Williams has been appointed as the clubβs Open Age Head Coach from January 2027.
John brings with him a wealth of experience and an outstanding coaching pedigree. During his time at West Bowling he helped establish them as one of the strongest community clubs in the country, while his work with Bradford Bulls and North Wales Crusaders has given him valuable experience within the professional game and player development pathways.
What makes this appointment even more special is that John is no stranger to Keighley Albion. Having previously pulled on the famous red and black jersey, he understands exactly what this club stands for, the pride of representing Albion and the importance of our place within the local community.
Chairman Richard Dibbin said:
βI am absolutely delighted that John has agreed to become the next Head Coach of Keighley Albion. His values, ambition and vision for the future aligned perfectly with where we want to take this club.β
βKeighley Albion is a club on the rise. We have one of the strongest junior sections in the game, fantastic volunteers and a real desire to keep moving forward. We want to build a club that develops its own players, competes at the highest level possible and gives every player a clear pathway from junior rugby into the open age game. We firmly believe John is the right person to help lead us on that journey.β
βMost importantly, John is a great bloke. He understands people, understands rugby and understands Keighley Albion. We are thrilled to have him on board and excited about what the future holds.β
βUntil John joins us in January, Danny Snowden, Col Pickles and Bobby Derbyshire will continue to lead the team. The work they have done has been outstanding and they have our full backing for the remainder of the season.β
