In a fantastic end to the league season Northfield Tees stars became division one champions last Thursday after gaining the 4 points they needed against their closest rivals and last years champions Eaglescliffe A.
The picture shows the team minus Adam Webster the Stockton closed champion who was away for the final game. Andrew Wilson and Jack and Joe Ferguson were the players on the night joined in the photo by captain Dave Ashwell and James Dale.
Eaglecliffe's star studded team of Tom Rayner, Ben Savage and Josh Harland had needed 7 points to force a play off and had raced to a 5 3 lead withJoe beating Josh and Ben and Andy beating Tom. This left old rivals Joe and Tom to play the last singles game. These are two of the finest players ever to grace the Stockton league and inevitably it was a five set thriller. As the clock reached 10pm Joe managed to win the fifth end 11 9 and secure the title for Tees stars.
The division 2 title was won by Northfield Forest with Westbourne A as runners up.
The division 3 winners were Hartlepool Wanderers with Coxhoe Jaguars second.
The division three inaugral handicup competition was won by Northfield Tigers with Northfield pumas second.
