Billingham B 4-5 Tennis World A 🎾⭐️

It was a valiant effort from the B team as a superb effort from Nathan Ma and Boy Wonder Alfie Hunter took 3 precious points for the B tea.

The team were already up against it as an ever growing injury list meant the team only played the match with 2 pairs.

And whilst the pair of M. Chan and G. Corbett were able to take 1 rubber, it was the pair of Alfie Hunter and Nathan Ma who provided an inspired performance.

On his long awaited return, both Alfie and Nathan Ma were able to play inspired tennis, grinding out tough rallies and were able to come through 3 close games winning 9-7, 9-7 and 8-6!

A fantastic performance by the pair and one must have wondered if the B team could have pulled off the upset had they managed to get a 3rd pair!

⭐️ Billingham B Team Result 🎾

Billingham B 5 - 4 Greenfield A

It was an important game for both clubs as the two bottom clubs faced each other in this Division 3 relegation tussle.

A star performance from both Nick Corking and Guy Corbett, who's 2 points helped secure a massive victory for the B team over their nearest rivals.

Nick and Guy played fantastic tennis, mixing great tennis with a strong mental toughness in two physicallt and mentally gruellings sets.

They were fantastic under pressure, twice coming from behind to win their rubbers 9-7 and 9-8!

Mix this in with another 3 from M. Chan/S. Pattinson against Greenfield was enough to secure the victory.

Big shout out to to father and son, Tom Whittle and Gary Whittle who both stepped up from the C team! 👏

Billingham B Team Result 🎾

Greenfield A 3 - 6 Billingham B

It was a difficult first game away for the B team as they faced old adversaries Greenfield A, the true definition of a wet, cold Tuesday night game in Stoke.

Greenfield made it difficult for Billingham early on particularly with their veterans J. Chan and C. Paterson who narrowly lost to J. Snowball and H. Solway and S. Pollard and A. Coates. The newest pair of N. Ma and G. Corbett played spectacularly well winning their first 2 games and only narrowly losing the 3rd on a tie-break.

The regular pairing of M. Chan/S. Pattinson were also a bit hit and miss but their hardwork and endeavour paid off as they managed to come through 3 tough games unscathed.

A great win for the B team in a difficult first game. ⭐️

Billingham C Team Result 🎾

Norton B 2 - 7 Billingham C

The C Team get off to a flying start and lead Division 7 after the 1st round of fixtures.

It was an all round joint effort as an inspired Nick Corking was brought in to play alongside Alan Green who took all 3 points, Omer Siddqui on his return took the 1 point alongside Chris Humpleby and Gary and Tom doing Gary and Tom things (who also picked up 3 points).

Our partners We Do Tennis C.I.C will be at the John Whitehead Family Fun Day THIS FRIDAY to put on free tennis for anyone who wants to pick up a racket and join in! Equipment will be provided and our friendly team will be on hand to help and answer any questions you have about local parks tennis!!
