It is with great sadness that Billingham Ice Skating Club learned of the passing of John Hayes.

John was a much loved coach, mentor, and friend who touched the lives of so many skaters and families throughout the skating community. His passion, dedication, encouragement, and kindness will leave a lasting legacy both on and off the ice.

We send our heartfelt condolences to John's family, friends, colleagues, skaters, and everyone at Whitley Bay Ice Skating Club during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you come to terms with this devastating loss.

The skating world is a close knit family, and today we stand together in remembering John and supporting one another. His impact on so many lives will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, John. You will be greatly missed. 💙⛸️

It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that we, as a committee have to announce that the very sad passing of John Hayes a loved coach and friend passed on Sunday evening.
John suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday morning and despite the amazing efforts of the ambulance crew and Freeman Hospital staff unfortunately he didn’t survive.
Our deepest condolences and sympathies go to John’s family, friends, work family and of course his skaters.
We ask for all the skating community to support each other at this time.

⛸️❄️ What a fabulous club activity yesterday! ❄️⛸️

A huge thank you to Cathryn and Faith for organising such a fantastic session, and to Alex for all of your help and support throughout the day. 💙

It's always wonderful to see our members coming together, having fun, building confidence, making friends, and enjoying everything that ice skating has to offer. The smiles on everyone's faces said it all! 😊✨

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helps make these activities possible and continues to support our amazing club community.

Our social night is still going ahead on Saturday 20th June From 7pm onwards at the TUC Billingham .

The night will be just a social gathering with friends and families from the skating club , a chance to get together and socialise.

All children are welcome and drinks will be served till late. There will be snacks on during the night.

It would also be a chance to sit and discuss upcoming events and also the up-and-coming Christmas performance we are planning .

TeamStack will help keep members and families up to date with the latest club news, event information, schedules, and important announcements, while also helping us plan and organise our activities more effectively.

Please note: TeamStack is intended for users aged 18 and over. Parents and guardians should download and manage the app on behalf of any members under the age of 18.

As this is a new system for both our members and volunteers, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we learn and develop the best ways to use it. We are excited about the opportunities it brings and welcome your feedback throughout the trial.

🌟 Volunteers' Week 2026 🌟

This week, we proudly celebrate the incredible volunteers who make Billingham Ice Skating Club possible.

Every training session, competition, event, and success story is made possible by people who generously give their time, energy, and commitment to our club. From committee members and event organisers to those working tirelessly behind the scenes, every person helping to run the club does so on a voluntary basis.

Their dedication helps create opportunities for skaters of all ages and abilities to develop their skills, build confidence, make friendships, and achieve their goals on and off the ice.

A special thank you also goes to our fantastic parent volunteers. Whether you're helping at competitions, supporting events, fundraising, setting up, tidying away, or stepping in wherever help is needed, your contribution is invaluable. The early starts, long days, and endless support often happen quietly in the background, but they make a huge difference.

Billingham Ice Skating Club is more than just a place to skate, it's a community built on passion, teamwork, and generosity. That community exists because of volunteers who continually go above and beyond to support our skaters and each other.
