*** EASTER APPEAL FOR CHILDREN’S SPORTS CLOTHING ***

The Council has issued a fresh appeal for the public to donate their unused sportswear to help get more children participating in sport ahead of the upcoming Easter holidays.

In the two years since its inception, the ‘Kit out the Borough’ scheme has helped give children from disadvantaged families the opportunity to take part in sport when they might have previously missed out due to not having the appropriate clothing.

And the Council is again asking for donations to help get more youngsters active across the Borough with spring in the air and the two-week Easter break approaching at the end of March.

The scheme remains on the look-out for boys and girls sports clothing, along with small adult clothing.

Splash in Stockton, Billingham Forum, IB Leisure, Thornaby Pavilion and Thornaby Pool are all home to the Kit out the Borough bins where the public can bring their unwanted clothing to donate.

Councillor Steve Nelson, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure, and Culture, said: “I’ve previously highlighted the physical and mental benefits regular exercise can have for children and young adults.

“The Kit out the Borough scheme is helping more youngsters participate in sport and we want that to continue.

“With hopefully some better weather on the way and a two-week Easter holiday coming up, now is the ideal time to ask the people of the Borough to bring in their unwanted sportswear, which is in a good, usable and clean condition.”

Been a while since we’ve posted on here, the girls have continued to work hard over the winter and been really proud of their attitude in sessions.

Tonight’s wildcat of the week is one of the newer members, Alana, she has been focused since coming in and quickly developed her skills because of this.

The last couple of weeks there has been a lot of work on turns, and how to use them within a game not just in practice. Alana has shown a high level at different variations of turning and demonstrated a great ability to improve within a session.

Keep up the great work Alana ⚽️

🚨 We are back tomorrow 🚨

Wildcats returns tomorrow and we will be indoor at Marsh House Avenue, in the Campus Hall.

5-6pm

£5 per session

Sessions are taken by FA qualified coaches/Full time coaches

All girls aged 6-10 welcome, we look forward to getting the girls back playing regularly, after a brief break from the summer!

We have spaces available, as 7/8 of our old wildcats have formed the Wolviston girls team, which we are really proud of, and they are smashing it.

Wildcats is a great place for girls who are new to the sport to build up their skills ready to get in to competitive football.

And obviously any former wildcats are welcome back to hone their skill set
