It'all over, 2700 miles down the road. The Journey ends
Arrived in El Paso Saturday 16 th August ( seems a life time a go, when i started with Adam on 27 th June from Banff Canada)
My last night in a tent ( Friday 15 th) did nt end well, saved the worst till last. The closer i got to Mexico i noticed a decline in opportunities of wild camping. I was at a petrol station , getting much needed cold drinks ect when i noticed a RV park, this had no access for tents, but in desperation i did a bit of door knocking, anyway i managed to convince the owner to all me to pitch my tent fir one night, at a cost of $10.
At the time i was over the moon, knowing i had a 55 mile trek to El Paso to do the next day, then it was all over.
With no toilet / shower block i had the luxury of up tp 9 pm to use garage facilities.
Majority of camp sites i used seemed ok, until the dreaded train comes by at regular times,
tooting his head off.
So why should Friday 15 th be any different?
It was nt , along with HGV trucker's
leaving their engine running through
the night for the AC.
The busy road did nt help either, then bloody Thomas the tank engine played his tune, just seemed for
ever.
Well by 2am i had enough, i packed my kit , sorted bike out and hit the road for 4 am, what a relief to get out of that nightmare, to think i paid for that privilege.
I had sent a few email's to sone bike shops, to test the water to see if anyobe would be interested in buying my bike, i got one so as soon has i got to hotel (10 am) could nt check in till 2 pm. I striped my bike of all the bags and attachments, gave it a quick wet wipe wash and off i rode to the shop, 15 mile the other side of town, bike was bought and i got lift back to hotel, happy days.
Sat i got a taxi to the Mexican boarder, then i walked across in to Ciudad Juarez Mexico, i kept walking till i got to hotel ( where im stating till Thursday)
Friday 22 nd i ll be meeting up with my lovely wife in Cancun for a well deserved holiday for us both.
What a great way to end a marvellous adventure , i ve had the time of my life, thank you to everyone who offered support along the way, it dies help and is much appreciated.
Till the next time
I'm disappointed in the Subway shops in both US & Mexico, poor showings, expected more fruit n veg in.
