Performing arts school in Billericay offering recreational & professional training in ISTD dance, LAMDA acting, Vocal Coaching, Acro, Musical Theatre, Commercial, Contemporary/Lyrical, Jazz Tech, PBT and more. Dance Steps Academy is a professional school of the arts offering a range of dance and theatre classes for Children as well as an extensive timetable of dance and fitness classes for Adults. We are ISTD affiliated for all our dance classes and offer the opportunity for students to take exams and be part of fully staged theatre productions. We aim to cater for all needs, and therefore offer extensive training, advice and opportunities for those wishing to take this as a career route. We have agency contacts available to represent individuals for professional work in the arts and entertainment industry, we offer audition preparation programmes and have our very own elite Dance Company that train as our main performance group in the school. Our class list includes ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street Jazz, Boys Street Dance, Musical Theatre, Saturday Theatre School, Baby Ballet, Mini Modern, Body Conditioning, Vocal Coaching, Private Dance Lessons, Adult Dance and Fitness Classes and children's dance parties. Dance Steps Academy also offers a fantastic children's fun club in the school holidays for 3-11yr olds, with a range of fun and engaging activities. BILLERICAY PARADE & CELEBRATION DAY 2026! 🧡🖤

What a FABulous day we had yesterday for this first event of it's kind for Billericay organised, by the team. The day started off with the parade - celebrating a whole host of local community clubs, groups, organisations and more! Followed by a day full of a bustling high street with businesses open, offering all sorts of offers and things to do.

And then of course the stage where we got to showcase 3 sets of our incredible talented young performers singing. Featured were Freya Lang, Gracie Macaulay, Amelie Walsh, Isaac Mather, Isabel Nott, Evalyn Palmer and Sophia Mitchell. SO proud of you all!!! It's no easy feat getting out there and performing street side in front of a big crowd of strangers and you all totally did yourselves proud and flew the DSA flag high! Thank you to the team for delivering excellent sound and production management for the event. It was great seeing all of the different acts perform throughout the day. Thank you also to the people of Billericay for being such fabulous supporters of this wonderful community led day.

Safe to say we are looking forward to next year already! (Plus be sure to catch us for the next event at the Late Night Light Up evening on Thursday 26th November - Christmas prep has already started at DSA HQ! 😆)

FEATURE FRIDAY 🧡

Confidence doesn’t appear overnight. It’s built through consistency, challenge and the right support.

combines weekly group training with regular 1:1 sessions, and the difference in confidence, commitment and performance quality has been huge.

What we’ve really seen grow is their willingness to trust themselves, take more risks and perform with far more belief in what they’re doing. That confidence has changed the way they approach their training as a whole.

At DSA, students have the opportunity to combine regular group classes with focused 1:1 training, giving them extra time to work on individual goals, build confidence and develop at their own pace.

This year at DSA, our team will be placing extra focus on four key areas to help students get the most from their training with us:

Consistency. Etiquette. Flexibility. Performance.

These are areas we want to keep at the forefront throughout the year, helping to build stronger habits, greater confidence and better outcomes across training.

🔸Consistency - in attendance, application, focus and commitment.

🔸Etiquette - in how we work with teachers, peers and the space around us.

🔸Flexibility - to support safer movement, greater range and more possibilities in training.

🔸Performance - as a habit — something we develop in class, not just when there’s an exam, competition or show.

These are the standards we want our students to grow with throughout the year, both in their training and in the way they carry themselves as performers.

Being on time, arriving in the correct uniform, bringing what you need, knowing your work, remembering corrections and showing respect for your tutor, your peers and the space all help create the right environment for progress.

We’re so excited to be taking to the Baldwin Creative stage on Sunday 13th September with this brilliant group of DSA vocalists. Bringing a whole host of pop and musical theatre classics.

Representing both our current students and alumni, each of them brings something completely different — and we can’t wait to hear them perform.

Our new term timetable is here! 🧡🖤

A brand new term begins at DSA this September, with classes across Dance, Acro, Singing, Acting, Musical Theatre and more.

Whether your child is taking their very first steps into performing arts or looking for somewhere to develop their training further, we’d love to welcome them to DSA.

New students can join us for a two-week trial for £20, with the opportunity to try as many suitable classes as they like during that time — giving them the chance to find the subjects, teachers and training that are right for them.

We are super excited to announce that tickets for this years Tots and Singers Showcase will go on sale next Tuesday 8th September at 10am via the Towngate Theatre box office online via the link below or in person/on the phone at the theatre box office ☎️

This showcase is one of the most heart warming and favourite regular annual events for us, where we showcase our youngest classes in the school, an array of our singing students and some competition students. This showcase was born years back to be a stepping stone for students of all ages and all abilities to gain better confidence to be able to step on stage and for those who are first timers to understand that the theatre world is all about.

We can't wait to share another wonderful afternoon with you all and capture more of those magical stage moments! 🧡🖤
