Hi everyone,
I wanted to send a personal message because I'm becoming increasingly concerned about attendance across my classes, and I'd really value your feedback and support.
Since mid-May, I've seen a gradual but significant decline in numbers. Back in May, I had 21 people attending my Friday morning Fitness Pilates class. Since then, attendance has reduced week by week, and yesterday morning there were just 9 people in the room.
It's not just one class either. Across the timetable, classes that were regularly full like GLOW Beatz, are now seeing up to 15 fewer participants than there were only a month ago. Hatha Yoga has gradually dropped from an average of 14 to only 6 this week.
What worries me most is that so many of you seem to have simply disappeared from classes altogether. I completely understand that life gets busy, routines change, holidays come around and priorities shift. However, because I haven't heard from so many of you, I'm left wondering whether you're planning to return or whether I need to start actively marketing all of my classes to bring new people into our community.
In over 15 years of running my community fitness business, I have never witnessed such a dramatic drop in attendance over such a short period of time. Usually, as a small business owner, you learn to be fairly thick-skinned. There are always ups and downs, and I've always managed to stay positive and focused on the bigger picture.
But if I'm being completely honest, this situation is worrying me. It's difficult not to take it personally when you've invested so much time, energy, passion and care into building something that means so much to you. I know there may be many reasons for the decline, and they may have nothing to do with me or the classes themselves, but I can't help feeling concerned.
That's why I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
If you've taken a break from classes, are you planning to return? Is there something preventing you from attending at the moment? Has your schedule changed, or are there changes you'd like to see? If you do have any feedback, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share it with me. Kind, constructive honesty is always welcome, and your thoughts may help me understand what's happening and how I can better support our community moving forward.
For those of you who continue to attend week after week, thank you. Your loyalty, support and commitment mean more than you probably realise. You are the reason I've been able to build this wonderful community over the last 15 years.
If you've been thinking about returning, I'd love to see you back in class soon. Every booking, every attendance and every recommendation to a friend genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of our community.
With gratitude,
Lisa Hillier Fitness.
