I first qualified as a fitness instructor in 2003 whilst working part time in the NHS as a Biomedical Scientist. This physiological background gives me an insight into how the body works allowing me the confidence to give health and fitness advice. I retired from the NHS in 2017 and since then have added "more strings to my bow" by keeping up with CPD (continued professional development) within th

It’s two years on from starting my SPR/strength training journey. I was a bit thinner in photo on left (less muscle) but I am happy with the way I am today.

What a brilliant word but what does it mean?
This is the term used for the clicking and cracking noises we hear whilst exercising.

If not accompanied by pain or swelling these noises are often harmless and can be caused by the following:

Gas bubbles: A common cause is the release of gas bubbles that form in the joint space when it is stretched.
Cartilage or bone friction: A grating or crunching sound can result from the friction between bones and cartilage.

It can also be caused by an underlying medical condition such as arthritis so if at all worried see a medical professional 👍🏻

Cardio vascular fitness (heart and lung ) can be achieved by exercising on a regular basis. This entails raising your heart rate, breathing a bit heavier so producing a lovely warm glow 🥵It doesn’t always mean “jumping up and down” again and again, although this is one way😊
I did a 30min weight training session today and as you can see my heart rate definitely increased.
By using weights to increase the workload your muscles need more oxygen therefore your heart must pump faster to deliver this oxygen-rich blood 👍🏻💪🏻
