*Dartmouth Regatta 2026*

The regatta season came to a close yesterday at Dartmouth with the final WEARA championship event of the year taking place. In challenging conditions we had crews entered in multiple categories and enjoyed some tight racing.

First race of the day was the OSB 4+. The crew finished in 2nd place after a battle all the way down the course between all 3 boats - only about a length between everyone! Great racing.

The singles were next up. Alex (Nov 1x) Andy (Mas 1x) and Millie (WNov 1x) all enjoyed close racing and were pleased with their results to round off a great season for them all.

The ONov 2x finished in 3rd place. This was the first time Harry and Jaxom had raced together in a 2x. Hopefully some more small boats racing to come next year for you both!

The highlight of the day was a fantastic win in the OSA 4+. In a 5 boat race the Reds pulled ahead to take the win by around 4 lengths. The crew were really happy with this result and it rounded off a brilliant year. Crew: Ross Bennett, Ricky Syvret, Luis Wilkins, Charlie Colwill, Grace Farrell (Cox) πŸ†

The O2- only just made it onto the start line. With possibly the quickest boating time to race start turnaround every experienced they gave it a go in the rough water and had a good laugh.

An equipment malfunction unfortunately stopped the WN 4+ racing on the day. Thank you all for being really helpful throughout the day despite this. Your support to the club with boating, rigging etc all contributed to the day running smoothly.

The final race of the season was in the O8+. In a very enjoyable race the crew finished in a respectable 2nd place after just getting pipped on the line. A great crew effort.

Another season wrapped up. The Reds have won three WEARA Championships in 2026. Congratulations to all those involved!

I would like to give a big shoutout to the Junior Squad for their efforts yesterday. This was the first regatta for some of our juniors and they rowed brilliantly and came away with valuable racing experience that they can carry into the next season. It’s been brilliant to see the junior squad start to collect more wins this year, proof that the hard work and commitment you put in during training is paying off πŸ’ͺ

Thank you to Bideford Regatta for a fantastic day!

4 wins πŸ† 3 seconds πŸ₯ˆ 2 thirds πŸ₯‰

The sun was certainly out at Exeter on Saturday with all our crews taking on the hot conditions. β€˜Stay Hydrated’ was the main message from the day!

First up was Alex in the ONov 1x. After comfortably winning his heat, he progressed straight to the final. In the final he powered down the course to take a great win and to win what was probably the most impressive trophy of the day! πŸ†

The WJ15 2x followed. A strong race from start to finish to take a great win and make it two wins in a row for the double of Millie Colwill and Ella Davis! πŸ†

The Mas 2x of Andy and Charlie rowed into a second place, this was followed by the Nov 2x who won their heat, and finished in second place in their final as well.

The WSC 4+ and WSB 4+ enjoyed close races in both of the events. They finished 3rd in both after a battle down the course against strong opposition.

This was followed by the OSB 4+ who again had a tight race to the line but just lost out to finish in 2nd.

The WNov 4+, Mas 1x and OJ16 2x just missed out on spots in the respective finals but all crews enjoyed fights to the line in the heats and repocharges. Well done everyone!

The third win came in the Mixed Nov 4x+. The crew rowed brilliantly to power through and take the win in the last 10 strokes. A brilliant example of why you should never give up in a race and battle all the way to the line! πŸ†
Crew: Ella Davis, Millie Colwill, Harry Wickett, Charles Thomas-Brown, Grace Farrell (Cox).

The final win of the day came in the OSA 4+. A close race from start to finish, the Reds crew inched away in the second half of the race to take an awesome win which the crew were super pleased with. πŸ†
Crew: Charlie Colwill, Luis Wilkins, Ricky Syvret, Ross Bennett, Grace Farrell (Cox).

A brilliant club atmosphere all throughout the day. Thank you to all members for being so helpful and helping the day run smoothly and all spectators for the support. Thank you Exeter Rowing Club for a great regatta!

Next up - Falmouth Regatta on Saturday 18th July.

*Henley Qualifiers 2026*

In addition to wimbleball regatta this weekend, we also had a crew travel to Henley for HRR qualifying races. The crew were entered in the Britannia Challenge Cup.

In a stacked field with 42 entries (16 places up for grabs), the crew didn’t manage to qualify for the main event but enjoyed a great row and everyone was pleased with how they did knowing they gave everything down the course.

Well done to the crew of Ross Bennett, Ricky Syvret, Luis Wilkins, Charlie Colwill and Grace Farrell (Cox).

*Wimbleball Regatta 2026*

5 wins πŸ† 5 seconds πŸ₯ˆ 1 third πŸ₯‰

Gusty winds greeted us at Wimbleball lake on Saturday 27th June. Because of this the decision was taken to shorten the course to 500m. We had some great racing across multiple categories!

First off was the WSB 4+. They finished 3rd after battling the condition’s and a close race with 2nd.

The OSB 4+ took the first win of the day after leading from the get go! πŸ†
Crew: Chris Thorne, Luis Wilkins, Oscar Cavill, Ross Bennett, Grace Farrell (Cox)

The ladies novice crew had a great race. With both crews crossing the line not knowing who had won, the result was that they were just pipped on the line and finished in second.

One of the highlights of the day was the WJ16 2x. In a field of 6 boats, Ella and Millie stormed through to take a well deserved win. Well done girls! πŸ†

The ONov 4+, again had a very close race. They finished in a strong 2nd place.

This was followed by the Mixed SC 4+ who took a great win πŸ†
Crew: Rosalie Fowler, Jaxom Dunn, Chris Thorne, Chloe Summers, Millie Colwill (Cox).

The OSA 4+ took the win in their category after a strong row πŸ†
Crew: Charlie Colwill, Luis Wilkins, Oscar Cavill, Ross Bennett, Grace Farrell (Cox).

Andy braved the conditions to finish in a respectable second in the Mas 1x.

The final win of the day came in the W8+. The crew kept their composure and rowed cleanly to power through and take the win πŸ†
Crew: Grace Farrell, Leonie Byrne-McColl, Abbie Vickery, Millie Colwill, Rosalie Fowler, Scarlett Henry, Annabelle Spiers, Chloe Summers, Ross Bennett (Cox).

Two doubles completed the days racing, both the Nov 2x and Mas 2x finished in second places to round off the day.

A brilliant day of racing all round with some great wins. Thank you Wimbleball for a fun and well run regatta!

Next up: Exeter Regatta on Saturday 11th July.

*Totnes Regatta 2026*

The WEARA season kicked off for the year at Totnes last weekend. We had a good days racing with some promising results for the year to come.

First off were Millie and Harry in the OJ16 2x, they finished second in their heat and went on to row in the repocharge where they just missed out on a spot in the final.

The OSA 4+ was next up. They won their heat to progress straight through to the final. They rowed well in the final to take a respectable second place πŸ₯ˆ

The ONov 2x finished in second in their heat. This was followed by Andy in the Mas 1x who rowed to a second place finish πŸ₯ˆ

OSB 4+ was next. The crew had a tight race and finished in second πŸ₯ˆ giving something to build on for the year.

OSC 4+ finished second in their heat, and then finished second in the rep, just missing out on the final also.

This was followed by the WJ16 2x who finished 3rd in their heat.
