Music and dance has always been at the heart of me, and I have dedicated much of my time to the study, performance, creation and teaching of musical arts. Creating Dances, is not only what I enjoy more than almost anything else, it is also the thing that comes most naturally to me. At my dance school I was fortunate enough to have a teacher from a performance background, who, alongside Tap, Acroba
tics Ballet and Jazz, introduced us to many different styles of dance. I have continued this study of various dance styles as an adult and think theres not many styles i havent covered over the 14 Musicals and 12 variety shows i have chreographed. The most recent of which was "Annie" for BMCDS at the Queens Theatre November 2016. Most of my experience has come from my work with the Westward Ho! Youth Theatre. We are often congratulated on both the professional feel of our shows, and the dedication we show to the development of our members. For me an important part of this is to ensure that my dances are challenging yet achievable and show off the very best of all of our members. Making for fun rehearsals, enjoyable shows, and a whole lot of happy, confident members. Additionally to this I have taught GCSE dance, run workshops and worked with youth centres. I have full qualified teacher status and 12 years’ experience teaching in both educational and theatrical settings, This has given me a clear, precise teaching style, great child management and organisational skills and extensive experience of lesson planning and schedule management. I am also DBS checked, am licensed as a DCC chaperone for children in performance and I am fully insured. Dance is my greatest passion. This gives me an energy and enthusiasm which spreads to those I teach. Overall I am not just an experienced and passionate Choreographer, capable of producing pieces which are both creative and clever. But I’m also a gifted teacher, capable of creating an active learning environment, engaging, motivating and challenging those with which I work. Resulting in fun, productive rehearsals.
