πΏ Outdoor Learning Matters πΏ
We're delighted to see proposals for the new Natural History GCSE include a minimum of 20 hours of fieldwork and outdoor learning.
At Skern Adventure, we've long believed that some of the most valuable learning happens outside the classroom. Through our Primary, GCSE and A-Level field studies programmes, students develop practical fieldwork skills, investigate real environments and gain first-hand experience that brings learning to life.
From exploring coastal landscapes and rocky shore ecosystems to collecting data for GCSE investigations and A-Level Independent Investigations (NEAs), outdoor learning helps students build knowledge, confidence and a deeper connection with the natural world.
It's fantastic to see greater recognition of the important role fieldwork plays in education, and we look forward to continuing to support schools with inspiring, curriculum-linked learning experiences.

Leading education charity Field Studies Council, which advised the Government on the new GCSE, says the qualification will increase demand for field trips and residentials.
