Yesterday saw Oxford Blackbirds Disability Football Sessions start back up for 2024. This was the clubs third session and the numbers continue to rise. Players are afforded the opportunity to join in on group activities or have 1-1 training with one of our coaches. The ability for us to do this affords us to offer football to all players regardless of learning or physical disabilities or football ability meaning all are welcome to attend these sessions.

The next session will be Sunday 21st January, 11:30-13:00 at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre, OX4 6JL, and session are held fortnightly.

⚽️⚽️⚽️ We are now having a break for Christmas, we return in January ⚽️⚽️⚽️

After the success of our taster session Oxford Blackbirds FC are proud to announce that we will be continuing the Disability Football Sessions We will be holding regular training sessions for children of 5-11yrs old.
Regardless of learning or physical disabilities or football ability all are welcome to attend these sessions.

With the Christmas break coming up the next two session will be held 11:30-13:00 on Sunday 10th December and Sunday 7th January at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre, OX4 6JL. After 7th January the sessions will run fortnightly.

Today was an unforgettable experience at St George's Park for The Football Association's Journey to Disability super event. The day unfolded with an incredible 'audience with' session hosted by Baroness Sue Campbell, delving into the essence of creating true inclusivity in football.

Sharing the panel with inspiring figures like Maz, our lovely parent from Bure Park FC, and Zara, England Deaf Women's Futsal Captain, showcased what can be done and what impact it can have on individuals and families.

My personal highlight came when I stepped onto the renowned Sir Alf Ramsey Indoor pitch to showcase and coach 2 sessions from the Comets program, designed for children aged 5-11 with disabilities. The joy of interacting with over 150 delegates and witnessing the impact of our efforts at the home of England Football was truly humbling.

We are very excited to share that this weekend at England Football's Disability Training for Clubs super event, Coach Adam and the mother of 2 of our wonderful players Maz, have been invited to share their experiences of setting up a club and what it's like and means to be a part of an inclusive club like ours in a Q&A session hosted by Sue Campbell, Baroness Campbell of Loughborough. They will also be joined by England Para Lion Mason Dunbar, who represents his country for the Cerebral Palsy team.

Following that coach Adam will take to the famous St George's Park Sir Alf Ramsey indoor 3G pitch to deliver a showcase of the new disability session launching fully in 2024, Comets.
