Dunstans Lane (Byway 0525/14/1) SH 05, Shropshire - Motorbike Trail Riding in England

A short but interesting lane in Shropshire, South East of Church Stretton.
From an initial gate, a short, overgrown and rutted section descends to a second gate. A 50 m section across the edge of a grassy field arrives at gate 3, then a fairly well surfaced unsealed, metalled lane descends (with dozens of pheasants on this occasion) to a shallow ford.

Please note this video is for information purposes only. The conditions are as shown on the date of filming but please be aware that weather and other factors may alter this over time.

The legal status of this green road was checked at the time of filming and was legal for use by motorcycles at that time but cannot be guaranteed for other types of motor vehicle (where this differs, I will always try to include information in the description). Legal status may change and whilst I make every effort to keep the descriptions updated and will re-film the route if necessary, please check the status for yourself on the relevant definitive map or list of streets, if intending to ride it.

Motorcycle trail riding is potentially dangerous, please ensure you have the necessary skills and wear appropriate protective clothing. Please ensure your bike is in a safe and legal condition (this is a public road like any other) including tax, insurance and MOT if required and that you have the appropriate licence for the bike you are riding.

When riding unpaved highways please show respect to other users (walkers, horse riders & cyclists) as they may not be aware this is a public road. If meeting horses coming towards you, please pull over and cut your engine until they are past. If you catch up with horses, stop and take a break, giving them time to clear the road.

Lip Lane (Welford 26 & Kintbury 34) WB 06, West Berkshire - Motorbike Trail Riding in England

A woodland lane near to Newbury in Berkshire, mostly easy to ride but does have a few muddy rutted sections that are more tricky, and would be become much harder in wet conditions.

Riding Lane (BU 14) Buckinghamshire - Motorbike Trail Riding in England (Green Laning)
A pleasant, non technical lane, right on the doorstep of the Buckinghamshire town of Beaconsfield, starts and finishes as tarmac but an unsealed, metalled surface for the majority. Unfortunately prone to fly-tipping gibving its location on the urban fringe and the ease of access.

Gypsy Lane (Great Missenden Byway 52/55) BU 13, Buckinghamshire - Motorbike Trail Riding in England.

A lane of several sections near Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire. Starting and finishing as tarmac roads, it is mostly a hard packed dirt track but does descend quite sharply to a low point where standing water, deep ruts and mud are the norm. Fortunately it doesn't last very long and the surface improves as it climbs again.

Very close to the town so expect to meet walkers, and especially dog walkers.

Watling Street North (UCR 0516/UN1/3 & 2SH 03), Shropshire - Motorbike Trail Riding in England

A short but surprisingly difficult Unclassified County Road (UCR) that's pretty much within the town of Church Stretton. An originally metalled surface has had a thick layer of soil deposited on top of it over the years. That in turn has become moderately rutted and in the wet turned out to be trecherously slippery! One failed hill climb (if you can call it a hill) and one lying down episode means I have given this an AMBER rating, remembering this is for a big bike, on road biaised tyres (like I had) even in the dry, the ruts and encroaching vegetation make it tricky.

In the video I describe it as starting from the tarmac road of the same name, where in fact you have to leave Watling Street North and enter Leasowes Close to find the start.
