Friendly Match Report – Saturday 13th June 2026
Bicester Bowls Club vs Waddesdon Bowls Club

On a lovely warm afternoon, we welcomed Waddesdon Bowls Club to our green for a friendly mixed triples match played across six rinks. The match was played to18 ends. Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

We would like to express our appreciation to Cathy Day, Gail Wetherly and Phil Crane for helping Waddesdon out by playing on their team, as they were short of players on the day. Thanks everyone!

Despite Waddesdon giving a good performance, Bicester triumphed on the day with a winning score of 68 shots to Waddesdon’s 50 shots. Congratulations to Bicester on their victory, and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green which was in beautiful condition.

Bicester’s highest scoring rink with a score of 22-15 was led by Skip, Peter Hesketh with No. 2 Jill Benn and Charlie Evans in the lead role.

It was a pleasure to meet with our friends from Waddesdon Bowls Club who are a very experienced team, and share a delicious buffet with them after the game. Everyone is looking forward to playing them again on their home turf later this year. Until then, it’s back to the greens

Friendly Match Report – Saturday 2nd May 2026
Oxford University Press Bowls Club vs Bicester Bowls Club

On a lovely warm afternoon, we travelled into Oxford-to-Oxford University Press Bowls Club for a friendly mixed triples match played across five rinks. The match was played to 18 ends. Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

Despite Oxford UP giving a good performance, Bicester Bowls Club triumphed on the day with a winning score of 95 shots to Oxford UP’s 65 shots. Congratulations to our players on their victory, and a big well done to all at the match who gave their best on the green which was in excellent condition.

Bicester’s highest scoring rink was led by Skip Richard Herbert with No. 2 Laurie Bryant and Bryony Groves in the lead role.

It was a pleasure to meet with our friends from Oxford University Press Bowls Club who are a very experienced team, and everyone is looking forward to playing them again later this year. Until then, it’s back to the greens for more practice and camaraderie!

BOWLS BIG SUMMER is coming to Bicester!!

We are holding an Open day for all the family to enjoy a FREE session of lawn bowls on Sunday 24th May 2026 starting at 1.30pm. Our members will be delighted to introduce you and your family to the brilliant sport of bowling on beautiful green grass. Our bar will be open on the day for drinks and snacks.

Bowls’ Big Summer is a new national initiative to enable all bowls clubs to capture new participants this season, with a focus on introducing potential players to bowls through traditional recruitment at the start of the season and welcoming those who want to give bowls a go, at Bicester Bowls Club at The Garth, London Road during the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in July/August.

On a very sunny spring afternoon we welcomed Wendover Bowls Club for a friendly mixed triples match played across six rinks. The match was played to18 ends. Bicester Bowls Club vs Banbury Borough Ladies

On a very sunny spring evening, we welcomed Banbury Borough Bowls Club Ladies Team for a friendly match played across three rinks, with one team playing triples and two teams played pairs. The evening was cool and we played just 14 ends. Irene Dymond for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Despite Bicester’s best efforts, Banbury Borough Bowls Club Ladies Team triumphed on the evening with a fantastic winning score of 39 shots to Bicester’s 23 shots. Congratulations to Banbury Borough on their victory, and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green despite the coolness of the evening!
Bicester’s only winning rink was led by Skip Linda Bryant, with No. 2 Marie Roberts and Barbara Hawsley and Debbie Holloway sharing the lead role.
It was a pleasure to meet with the ladies from Banbury Borough who are a very experienced team, and everyone is looking forward to playing them again later this year. Until then, it’s back to the greens for more practice and camaraderie!

It was a beautiful spring afternoon for our first away fixture this season at Winslow Bowls Club for a friendly match played across six rinks, with three players per team. Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Bicester triumphed on the day with a fantastic winning score of 109 shots to Winslow’s 79 shots. Congratulations to Bicester, and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green.
Bicester’s highest-scoring rink with a score of 28-4, was led by Skip Alan Wagner, with No. 2 Mick Roberts and Di Freeman playing the lead role.
It was a pleasure to meet with our friends from Winslow, and everyone is looking forward to playing them again next year. Until then, it’s back to the greens for more practice and camaraderie!
