Last Saturday, at Bexhill Cricket Club, we came together to celebrate the incredible life of Sam Roberts! It was a truly unforgettable day, with the Pink Grapefruits kicking off the day with a nail-biting 1 run loss against Little Common. The Bexhill XI and the Sam Roberts XI then took to the field for an electrifying T20 match that will be etched in our memories forever! The day was all about honouring Sam's legacy and raising vital funds for , and we're thrilled to say we achieved both in abundance! We'll be sharing photos soon, but for now, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us, especially Sam's Dad and brother, who travelled all the way from Hobart, Australia to be with us. 🙏💕

🏏 WHAT A WAY TO FINISH THE LEAGUE SEASON! 💙💛

An amazing weekend at Bexhill CC celebrating everything that makes our club so special, juniors, seniors, families and some fantastic achievements!

🏆 FRIDAY - JUNIOR AWARDS

The weekend began with our Junior Awards Evening, celebrating the achievements of our Under 16 boys and girls. A brilliant night recognising their performances, progress and commitment throughout the season. The future is bright! 🌟

🏏 SATURDAY - FINAL LEAGUE GAMES

All three senior teams were in action with very different targets.

The 1st XI closed their season at the Polegrove, narrowly losing to Buxted Park with relegation sadly already confirmed.

There was still a HUGE reason to celebrate…

🌟 DANUL DASSANAYAKE - 1,000 LEAGUE RUNS! 🌟

Danul became the FIRST Bexhill player EVER to score 1,000 league runs in a season! An incredible achievement and a piece of Bexhill CC history. 👏🔥

The 2nd XI needed just four points to guarantee promotion…

✅ JOB DONE – PROMOTED! 🎉🍾

A fantastic season and thoroughly deserved!

The 3rd XI faced the daunting trip to league champions Sidley. Our young side produced a superb performance to come away with a hugely creditable TIE! 🤝

☀️ SUNDAY – FAMILY FUN DAY

The perfect way to finish the weekend!

Fantastic crowds enjoyed the sunshine, bouncy castle, face painting and a brilliant afternoon at the Polegrove.

And then came a closely contested softball match which, after Saturday’s drama, could really only end one way…

❤💛Saturdays the day!❤💛

The Sam Roberts Memorial Match takes place this Saturday at the Polegrove raising money for . We are honoured to announce that Sam's father and brother have made the very long trip over from Hobart to be guests of honour with past Bexhill players representing the Sam Roberts XI. Our sponsors Theburgerbrothersuk will be onsite supplying incredible food from midday with a bouncy castle also available for the younger ones.

There will also be a raffle with some top-class prizes, as well as an auction for two outstanding items............. A signed Harry Brook England World Cup ODI shirt and a signed Daryl Mitchell New Zealand Test shirt!

The schedule for the day is:

11.00am - Bexhill Pink Grapefruits Ladies team v Little Common Lightening Cats

1.30pm - Coin toss

1.45pm - Pre game pep talk

2.00pm - Bexhill CC v Sam Roberts XI T20 match

Ladies will be arriving from 10.00am with the men's teams from midday. The bar opens at 11.00am.

This game is open to anyone to attend. There is no fee to enter as this is a real community day.

🔥 The 2nd XI still have plenty to play for as they continue their push for promotion!

💪 The 3rd XI face a tough test on the road as they take on the Division Champions.
