Day 1 complete at the Sussex Seniors Championship at Highwoods ⛳️☀️

A hot day with a gentle breeze and some excellent golf on display as the players battled through the opening round.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers — especially the ball spotters out on the course throughout the day.

The course looked fantastic all day, and a huge credit goes to the greens team who really put some shifts in to get it in such great condition.

There’s still plenty to play for heading into tomorrow’s final round, and we’d love to see plenty of support around the course — especially for the home players competing at Highwoods. Spectators are very welcome.

If you don’t fancy walking around in the heat, the balcony is a great spot to sit back and catch plenty of the action throughout the day

Captains Charity Day Report

It’s clear from the scores that those who managed to keep the yellow ball in play had a great advantage throughout the round. However, the pressure of the day clearly got to some—rumour has it one unfortunate soul lost theirs right on the first tee!

The competition was fierce at the top of the table, with the following teams securing the top honours and prizes.

Format of the event Each team of three players (male, aged 55+ years) will be hosted by a senior member of Highwoods. The four players will play Stableford over 18 holes with the best three scores on each hole to count towards the team total.
