This season Bexhill will once again be offering a series of ECF-rated rapid events that will make up our summer Grand Prix season for our members.

This year we will have a total of 7 events. Each event will be a four round Swiss tournament with a time control of 15+5. Points will be collected throughout the summer with each player’s top 5 performances counting towards their Grand Prix total. The tournaments will take place during normal Friday evening meetings and are open to all Bexhill chess club members.

Dates will be as follows:

Grand Prix 1: May 15th 2026

Grand Prix 2: June 5th 2026

Grand Prix 3: June 26tth 2026

Grand Prix 4 :July 17th 2026

Grand Prix 5: August 7th 2026

Grand Prix 6: August 28th 2026

Grand Prix 7: September 18th 2026

Each member is welcome to play in as many or as few events as they like. However the top five scores will contribute to a player’s Grand Prix total.

Awards for a variety of performance measurements are under consideration following the reduction from 10 to 7 events this year.

Rating aspects depending on ECF category of membership is also being reviewed.

Registration for each event will be at 7pm prompt. With rounds commencing at approximately 7.15, 7.55, 8.35 and 9.15.

We will try to publish an/or update the results of each Grand Prix and the ongoing Grand Prix tables promptly on this Bexhill chess club website.

In the event of ties, the tie-break process should be clarified in due course.

Bexhill is a centre for the Institute of Chess exams and Rose is our first member to have completed all 5 levels. Congratulations Rose, from all of us 🤩

Our junior club has now merged with the senior club and all are welcome on Fridays from 7pm at St Mark's Church Hall, Bexhill.
We looking forward to seeing you

Just a reminder that Bexhill chess club reopens tomorrow, Tuesday 6th January.
We will be at our usual home of St Mark's Church Hall in Bexhill from 1pm - 4pm

Junior club restarts this Friday at 6pm. Adults from 7pm Friday after the juniors.

As another year at the Hastings International Congress comes to a close, we congratulate the members of Bexhill for their performances and stamina during this prestigious tournament.
9 members took part in the 99th Congress across 8 days.

Last night was the last junior session of the year and their Christmas party. Alongside party games was a delicious spread complete with an edible chess set.

The main chess club is open Tuesday for one last meet before Christmas. All welcome.

On Sunday 7th December, Rose defended her title of Sussex Girls Champion and took the trophy home again.

What a super evening last night at the Wheatsheaf for our Christmas social. Congratulations to the 'Bexhill Bashers' team for winning the quiz. You were the envy of many with your fabulous prizes!
Thank you to Bill for organising a great event.

The chess club is running for another 2 weeks before we break for Christmas so do join us at St Mark's Community Centre for tea, cake and a bit of chess.
Tuesdays 1pm and Fridays 7pm (juniors Fridays 6pm)
Last session before Christmas is Tuesday 23rd December.
