Safe to say I’d done a bit better than my first attempt 😂🎣

Plenty of worms in the bucket and, more importantly, some really decent ones as well.

Hopefully one of those bigger ones had a fish with its name on it 👀

Probably the biggest thing I learnt from this session… slow down! 😂

Watching people who know what they’re doing, there’s no rushing or forcing it. Everything is just smooth and controlled.

Definitely something I needed to work on 🎣

This one’s really about the difference between trying to teach yourself from videos and actually having someone there to point out what you’re doing wrong.

I think I finally found the rhythm 🎣😂

You can watch as many videos as you like, but having someone there who can actually watch what you’re doing and give you a few pointers makes such a difference.

I could’ve carried on practising by myself for ages without even knowing what I was doing wrong!

Amazing what a bit of tuition can do 😂🎣

Second time out with the pump and I was already doing better than my first attempt.

Still plenty to learn, but definitely heading in the right direction 👍

Got to have a go with a different pump and picked up another little trick at the same time 🎣

Using your arm at full stretch as a guide for the depth means you’re not constantly bending over and putting your back through it.

Something I’d never even thought about before, but it makes a lot of sense 👍

This is what Blackbeards Fisherman has always been about for me 🎣

Learning as I go, trying new things, making plenty of mistakes and hopefully getting a little bit better each time I get out.

This was definitely one of those sessions where a few things finally felt like they were starting to come together 👍

I was flying by this point 😂🎣

Definitely started noticing a difference once we got onto the wetter sand as well. More suction and everything was finally starting to feel a bit more natural.

Might not sound like much to some people, but I was well happy with this session 🎣

First time ever fishing Dungeness, turned up in complete darkness having never even seen that bit of beach before, and somehow managed to find a few fish.

The best bit for me though was catching every one of them on lug I’d pumped myself earlier that evening, on only my second attempt at pumping.

Still learning all of this as I go, but little wins like this are what make it worth it 👍

Even bumped into another bait pumper while we were out, so there were three of us at it in the end 😂🎣

One thing I kept hearing though was the same advice — stop trying to force it and keep everything smooth.

Definitely easier said than done when you’re only on your second attempt 😂
