ON Thursday night, our U10s travelled to a soggy Cropton Park to take on Wyke RLFC.
After a few weeks of disruption due to the school holidays, it was fantastic to see two full squads back in action, with the boys taking the wet conditions completely in their stride.
The lads put in a tremendous defensive effort throughout the evening and adapted their game well to the challenging conditions. Against two very good Wyke sides, they showed real determination, rolling their sleeves up and taking the tough carries when it mattered most. Their one-up running was strong and direct, while their commitment in defence laid the foundation for an excellent team performance.
Players of the Match -
Louie - Louie was a one-man tackling machine last night. Time and time again, he put himself in the right position to make first contact and halt the Wyke attack. He set a brilliant example to the rest of the team, showing how to tackle hard but fair, and relished every challenge that came his way. A superb defensive display that fully deserved recognition.
Davey - Although he is one of the quieter members of the squad, Davey certainly lets his rugby do the talking. He was a constant threat with ball in hand, running strongly and creating problems for the opposition throughout the game. Defensively, he worked tirelessly for the benefit of his team and produced a fantastic all-round performance. Davey led by example from start to finish and was a worthy Player of the Match.
