Sometimes I love exercise. But exercise isn’t always enjoyable in the moment.

There are early mornings, tired legs, bad weather and days when motivation is nowhere to be found.

What I try to teach my clients is that exercise gives us so much more than physical results. It improves our mood, builds confidence, reduces stress and reminds us what we’re capable of.

For me, cycling, running and strength training are all challenging in different ways-but I never regret doing them.

Find a way of moving that adds to your life, not something that feels like a punishment.

What type of exercise gives you the biggest mental boost?

This weekend I completed a sportive challenge, and it reminded me why having something to work towards can be so powerful. 🚴‍♂️

So many people start their fitness journey focused on losing weight or “toning up”, but often the biggest rewards come from achieving something you once thought you couldn’t do.

Maybe that’s your first full push-up, running 5k without stopping, lifting a certain weight, or simply being consistent with exercise for a month.

In my experience, challenges give my clients purpose, confidence and a sense of achievement that scales on the bathroom never can.

Your challenge doesn’t have to be huge! Small wins build momentum, and momentum creates lasting results.

Having support helps too. Whether it’s a friend, training partner or coach, accountability can make all the difference to keep you going.

So, instead of focusing only on what you want to lose, think about what you want to achieve.

The average age to live to is about 80 in the UK.

A sobering thought when you’re in your 40s and you realise you’ve quite probably lived more than half your life.

And you feel like you were a teenager a few years ago. But now you have teenagers! Or adult children!!

So why do we keep putting things off like we have infinite time?

Please stop saying you’ll start/change/begin next week/next month/next year.

Start NOW. You can start small. You can start messy. But just START!
