All great things come to an end. 😥 Last two days the group cruised to the base of main 25m pitch in Sunset Hole and then a blast in Kingsdale. Another 5 SRT pitches and some classic caving brought us to a wrap. Inspiring being out with such keen, motivated and able school pupils 👌 Outdoor Education in action. Finally where did this weather come from ☀️☀️☀️

⛅ Spring has arrived and venues are warming up. ⛅Out and about undertaking instructor observations as part of a centres monitoring process. ⛅Not only is this a key aspect of holding an AALA licence, but it gives organisations real feedback on staff competency and if they are following centre risk assessments and operational procedures.

Not the most exciting post. However, I often get asked, what is the best pulley/pullies to have for hauling as a Vertical Cave/Mine Leader or recreational caver.

Some key points to take into consideration are ;

1) how heavy you are
2 )how heavy will a customer/caver be
3) what environment will you be working in / visiting
4) how strong are you
5) what is your technical knowledge of hauling systems
6) have you practiced the skills and know your limatations

Mind you, a professional cave/mine leader will have different requirements than a recreational caver, as they will be required to haul as part of thier award.

Other makes available, but as I have only ever used/purchased Petzl pullies, I have only added a summary of relevant pullies from their new updated range. Petzl North Wales Caves and Mines UK Abandoned Mine Explores
