A little September update 💖
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the summer about what my family needs and what is realistically manageable for me right now.
As you know, my son is autistic and the last few years have been challenging with school - him being out of school, reduced timetables, learning from home and needing a huge amount of support from me.
His new 12-week specialist placement is a really positive step, but it also comes with a lot of driving, support and transitions from me. At the moment, he has 2 hours at his specialist placement in the next town, 2 hours with me, and then 2 hours at his school. I’m doing all the driving and supporting him through each transition, while also managing classes that clash with his pick-up times. 🙈
We will do absolutely anything for our children. But I also need to be realistic about what I can manage and make some space to look after myself too.
So from September:
🤍 Sarah-Jane will cover the Monday daytime classes
🤍 It will be me teaching Monday evenings
🤍 Sarah-Jane will cover the Friday daytime classes, with me stepping in when I can
There will be no cancelled classes- you’ll still have your classes, just with a little more support from Sarah-Jane. 🥰
This has been really hard to figure out, because ’m not giving up on Flourish. I love teaching, my clients and what I’ve built. But this is what’s needed for this season of life, so I can focus on my son and be there for him in the way he needs me to be.
(And I’m finally accepting that I need to look after myself too.)
Thank you for understanding and supporting me through all the changes. That’s the positive of you all being mums- you know the sacrifice it takes to raise our children.
Love, Sophie x
