Last night saw Sharpness Short Mat Bowls Club playing host to teams from Kingsway in our final match of the Summer League round robin stage.

We went into the night top of the table with a comfortable, but not insurmountable lead. One win would likely be enough to guarantee top spot and put us straight through to the playoff finals at the end of September.

By the end of the evening we had won 2 out of our 3 matches and secured the top spot! We now await the outcome of the remaining matches and premliminary playoff rounds to see which teams we will face in the final!

The England Squad has been announced for the coming season and Sharpness SMBC's Saul Featherstone has once again been selected to represent England.

Likewise, Joanne Featherstone retains her position in the England Ladies team following her success of last season.

Big club outting today!! 9 of our members attended the Avon Open Pairs Competitions, making 4 teams and a half team. Everyone played in such good spirits all day whether they were winning or losing. A big well done to Jan & Martyn who came runners up in the plate, it was a fantastic final but ultimately lost on the last end to a strong Llansamlet team 👏

Every club needs a mascot, who is slightly round with T-Rex arms but unbelievably handsome. Don't underestimate him though, he is determined to help the team win and has already proven he is up to the job last night at our FIRST EVER league game, 3 wins out of 3. Top job Steve 👏

⭐️ 2026 National Mixed Fours Championship Semi Finalists ⭐️

Outstanding effort made by these 4 (Team Sharpness-Defford) in this season's at the National Mixed Fours Championships, representing Gloucestershire at the weekend.

With 3 out of 3 wins in the group stage, they then went on to beat teams from Hampshire, Devon and Humberside in the following rounds.

They lost out in the semis by the tightest of margins on the last end by a few millimeters (their bowl was touching, and ours wasn't!!). What a run it was!

Absolute credit to Jan, starting her bowls journey just 10 months ago at an open day to getting to the semi's in her nationals debut. 👏
