Hamfields Leisure was originally the Nuclear Sports and Social Club (NSSC) at Berkeley, Gloucestershire. It was formed after it had been earmarked for closure and demolition; however, it is now kept open as a trust essentially for the recreational benefit of local and rural communities which do not benefit for having the social and sporting amenities available to those living in larger towns. The
trust is operated by a small but enthusiastic group of volunteers’ who freely give many hours of their time to ensure it runs efficiently. Although Hamfields is mainly for the benefit of the local Berkeley and Sharpness communities its facilities are available for hire and use for a wider range of clubs, organisations be they local or farther afield. Hamfields has a large purpose built club house with a bar lounge, large function room which includes sizeable elevated balcony, snooker rooms and kitchen and catering facilities. Hamfields also benefits from having substantial playing fields, outdoor recreation and play areas. It boarders a picturesque organic farm and has panoramic views over the unspoilt Vale of Berkeley, the river Seven and western fringes of the Forest of Dean. This scenic backdrop has provided a useful photographic background for wedding parties who hire Hamfields for their celebrations. Because of its facilities Hamfields regularly holds or hosts a number of events annually including:
