Reserve team Match report

Historic Opener Ends in Thrilling 3-3 Draw at the TJH arena. Regis Reserves kick-started their journey with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Stalbridge in their first-ever competitive fixture. Manager Gareth Hopton watched his newly formed side show immense character at the TJH Arena, coming from behind twice in a match that truly had everything.

The game got off to a tough start for the hosts, falling 1-0 down early on from a poorly defended set-play. However, the lads responded brilliantly, and Aaron Alloway leveled the scoring with a wonderfully taken goal to make it 1-1. Stalbridge regained the lead via another corner to make it 2-1, but the turning point of the match came shortly after. Bere Regis conceded a penalty, but goalkeeper Leo Hodges produced a spectacular save to keep his side in the game. Energised by the save, George Goulding found the back of the net to make it 2-2 following a brilliant assist from Nick Collins. The comeback looked complete when Jamie Rawlings rose highest to power home a header from an expert long throw from the evergreen Jamie Minett, putting Bere Regis 3-2 up. Victory was agonizingly close, but Stalbridge managed to sn**ch an equalizer with just two minutes left on the clock, leaving the final score locked at 3-3.

While a draw was ultimately a fair result, Bere Regis just about shaded the overall play. The lineup featured a brilliant mixture of youth and experience, highly boosted by the return of club veterans Jason Gover and Jake Muscato, who brought vital leadership to the pitch. Jake Muscato did brilliantly brushing off the cobwebs to put in a fantastic shift, while Jason Gover rolled back the years to pull off a majestic, last-ditch tackle that kept Stalbridge at bay. Goalkeeper Leo Hodges rightfully earned the Man of the Match honors, because beyond his crucial penalty save, he put in a commanding performance from start to finish. There is a clear need to work on set-pieces moving forward after conceding from dead-ball situations, but the immense team spirit on display provides a fantastic foundation to build on.

Following the final whistle, manager Gareth Hopton expressed how incredibly proud he was of how both the younger and older lads came together for their very first game. He noted that the squad showed real fight, and you can already feel that the lads are buying into and believing in the Bere Regis way as they look forward to the rest of the season.

First Team Match Report

The first team travelled to the newly formed Ringwood Development Side on the opening day, hosted at the impressive Ringwood Town complex.

The game started at fast pace with both sides playing some nice football on the artificial surface. As the half wore on, ringwood began to control possession but weren’t really causing The Regis much harm, where as Bere came very close to getting in on goal through wingers Enes Dari and Charlie Beale.
Ringwood’s best attempts came from distance, their best drawing a fantastic block from Brad Morgan off the rebound.

0-0 HT

Bere utilised their strong bench at HT and started the half with 3 new faces. Alex Dobson had been shifted into a man marking role of the home side’s skipper and nullified the influence he’d had in the first half. Both sides were struggling to create early on but as the minutes went by, Bere were starting to find some gaps in behind the Ringwood back four. At the other end, The Regis were having to defend manfully against the talented Ringwood attackers. In the last minute, the best chance of the game fell to Stephen Lillis after some fantastic interplay but unfortunately his lofted finish over the onrushing keeper landed on the roof of the net.

Bere opened the game with four sixteen year old’s and it was promising to see such a good performance from a new look squad.

Bere return home next week for a fixture against Swanage Town & Herston Football Club reserves.

Sponsor The Regis ⚽️

With tomorrow being a historic day for the club, The Regis need your help as we head back to having two adult teams.

Tomorrow will see us have players in our squad as young as 16, with our eldest player being in his 40’s. The club is doing its best to provide an environment for local people of different ages to be able to enjoy their football, getting all of the physical and mental health benefits that come with it.

To keep doing that, we need to bring some more sponsors into the club.
If you or your business can help, please message us today and allow us to keep providing a great facility to the local community.

A Historic Day For Bere!

This Saturday see’s the club field both a first team and reserve side in league fixtures for the first time in nearly 15 years!
A momentous day for the club that has taken a lot of hard work but a very exciting day for the Regis!

Sean Lillington’s first team travel to Ringwood to face their development side, who are new to the league. Having finished pre season with an emphatic win, Bere will be hoping for a positive result on the opening day.

Gareth Hopton’s new reserve side open the season at The TJH Arena where they host Stalbridge reserves. A mixture of exciting young players and returning veterans will hopefully bring home a win in front of the home fans.

30/08/2026

The Regis finished their pre season with a 6-0 victory over Crossways Spitfires, who we’d like to thank for hosting the game.

We look forward to next weekend when both the First and Reserve sides start their league fixtures.
