I came across this beauty in the Vietnam War Museum recently and I knew I recognised it.
It's exactly the same as a Cesna 172 but modified as a war plane. I had to get my photo taken with it! It took me back, that's for sure! No step on this one! Jo Kimberley (Townsend). X###x

(My husband and friends couldn't understand why I was so excited and sad when I saw it, but hoped it would be appreciated here.🤣😂)

Found this newspaper cutting while sorting some things at my daughter’s house in Australia last week. Jump was made on 7th June 1986.
My logbook entry shows this as my 65th jump, and my first demo! Bearing in mind I did my first 41 jumps on roundies this was my 24th jump an a ram air parachute!

There seems to be quite a lot of views of the page. Anyone got anymore photos to post or stories to tell?
I certainly remember the disco's in the Drax arms. And listening to Dire Straits around the fire in the cottage.
I remember Max's orange Capri and Mike Buddens cottage over the road.

What do you remember?

I am thinking of closing this page as it doesn't get much action any more.

It was nice to hear from Jane (Steve's gf and Amy Briscoe, Nigel's daughter.)

Certainly a time in my life I will never forget. 🥰💞💕. Love Jo Townsend (nee Kimberley)

I think maybe FB took away all the other admins for this page?

Just to let people know that Nigel Dacres daughter, who was born 1 month after he died in the crash, has posted below.

It would be great to see some interaction from people if anyone still follows this site?

Thanks

Jo Kimberley. Xx

Hi, This is a page for anyone who remembers, visited or jumped at DPC in the 80's. I know I have searched over the years for something. As we all know, it was just a few fields and a farm yard!! I recently traced Mike Budden, who you will all remember and I went to see him today!

There were many memories, both happy and sad. Helping to turn the pigsty into a parachute centre was fun and the crash in 1985 at DPC when the C206 we used, G-BDGL, crashed killing the pilot, Nigel Dacre & an instrucer Steve Scott who were both our friends. Mike and I were both on board that plane on the previous journey.

We would love to hear from anyone who remembers those days.

Mike will be posting some photo's hopefully soon. :-) Hoping I can get Andy Bourne and Mac to add some thing too.

Mac and Andy Davis are by the pit as I land. I don’t remember who the girl is but she gave me a DC!

A woman from the village yesterday gave me a copy of this article from her scrap book . I grew up at Winterborne tomson and was 12 when remember people coming in through the farm looking for the plane . Coll wood was at top of the farm and could be accessed by foot from here . The plane was removed through maperton as had better access into wood . Still believe the half tree is still there now and a old wreath still tied to it ...

Hi, I am trying to find anyone who was involved in or went to Spread Eagles parachute club which I think was also at Bere Regis....back in 1978. Please get in touch if you can help.

Thanks.
