Chandlery Sales Assistant Position
Full Time, Permanent (Part time possible for right candidate); Starting wage hourly dependant on age and experience.
Expected Hours. 35-40 per week including some weekends
Bembridge, Isle of Wight
Spinnaker Chandlery is a family owned and run business with a long record of serving the community. Building and diversifying our product offerings since 1985, we now sell not only “bits for boats” but also a vast array of outdoor clothing, hardware and ironmongery, electrical and plumbing sundries, camping gear, tools, paint and much more. With 20,000+ product lines we usually have what someone needs. Our helpful and knowledgeable staff, are dedicated to building a reputation for offering high quality goods for competitive prices. If a customer comes in with a vague description of what they want, we would aim to offer 4 different options to solve their problem!
We’re looking for an ambitious and capable individual to join our sales team. You will be a key point of contact for equipment and chandlery support, so good knowledge of sailing/boating is required. If you like working in a fun and relaxed atmosphere and would relish the chance to aid customers problem solve that tricky project we would like to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Welcoming customers into the shop and offering to assist them in what they need
Offering support and guidance to customers with particular focus on chandlery equipment
Till operation – accurately handling cash and card transactions.
Managing prompt packing and dispatch of mail orders
Processing stock deliveries and putting them out on display/in stockrooms
Using our in-house app to help replenish the shelves from inventory
Keeping the shop in a clean and tidy state
Helping to set up before we open and cash up after the shop closes.
Requirements
Good communications skills with customers and colleagues
Knowledge of boats and equipment commonly used on dinghies and small days boats.
Confident computer skills
Ability to work bank holidays, school holidays and some (but not all) weekends.
Willingness to learn, especially technical details and specifics of products
A desire to use your initiative to solve problems.
