25/26 Season ✅

Not the season we set out to have, but with all of our setbacks off the field to end the year with positive performances and a squad of committed girls is something to be proud of.

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take 2 steps forwards. A well earned month’s rest before we go again in a fresh environment as we look to challenge at the other end of the table. Thank you to anyone who played a part in getting us over the line this season 💜🩵

Yesterday’s Match Report written by ✍️ as we finish the season with a point 💜

Duffield finished the season in positive fashion, picking up a well-deserved point at Eyes Meadow.

After a step in the right direction last weekend, Duffield’s came into Sunday’s fixture in high spirits.

A sixth place Long Eaton Development were Duffield’s visitors on Sunday afternoon, who came into the tie off the back of two successive league victories.

The game began in a similar fashion to the previous encounter between the two teams, developing an open feel from the off.

It was Duffield who opened the scoring, with striker Amelia Horwood netting her eighth of the campaign, after heading home an excellent Katie Potts delivery from the right hand side.

Duffield’s slim lead continued into half time, with the home side unlucky not to add another to their tally following a dominant first 45 minutes.

It was Long Eaton who came out strongest after the break, with the visitors levelling the scoring in the 49th minute.

Long Eaton netted twice more almost immediately, stretching their lead to 3-1 by the 59th minute, something that seemed all too familiar for this Duffield side.

The home side picked themselves up however, responding immediately to Long Eaton’s pressure.

Duffield’s Evie Barnfield made it 3-2 in the 62nd minute of play, with her outstretched leg prodding home another excellent Katie Potts pass from a tight angle.

Duffield levelled the scoring in excellent fashion, with a fabulous strike from Ella Kew nestling into the top corner leaving Long Eaton’s goalkeeper with no chance, rounding off an impressive second half comeback for the home side.

After what was a challenging season for Duffield, leaving Eyes Meadow with a point on Sunday felt like a fitting way to close their 2025/26 campaign.

Duffield’s resilience and team-spirit was on show once again, placing the team in good stead when looking ahead to next season’s Division Two campaign.

Our Match Report from Sunday’s action, written by ✍️

A tight game ended in a narrow defeat for Duffield, in there penultimate match of the season.

Amber Valley came out on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline, with the hosts victorious at Dobholes Lane Recreation Ground.

Duffield stayed in the game until the final whistle, but Amber Valley, who sat in third place coming into the fixture, took all three points.

The game started as it meant to go on, with both sides seeing chances arise in the early stages of play.

It was the hosts who took the lead in the 20th minute, with a powerful strike from a central area rifling the back of the net.

Duffield’s backline were tested on multiple occasions soon after going behind, but thanks to excellent defensive blocks, and numerous Ella Bridges saves, the scoreline remained 1-0.

The visitors had a dangerous spell of possession moments before the break, but it was Amber Valley who took a narrow advantage into the second half.

Seven minutes after the stoppage, Amber Valley doubled their lead, when an unfortunate deflection found the feet of a Valley player 3 yards out.

Duffield remained in the game however, with the visitors looking the most likely scorers of the next goal.

Excellent work by Katie Potts down the right-hand side was almost rewarded on multiple occasions, with the wingers low-drilled deliveries latched upon by both Lucy Cunningham and Amelia Horwood, calling Amber Valley’s keeper into action.

A strong challenge on Duffield’s Ella Kew marred an otherwise competitive match, forcing the midfielder to be substituted late on.

Match Report from our weekend defeat to Pride Park, written by ✍️

Despite a positive Duffield performance, Pride Park took all three points at Eyes Meadow.

Pride park came into the fixture as newly-crowned champions, after a 4-2 victory over second-place Castle Donnington secured them the title last weekend.

Duffield proved a tough test for the league winners, despite sitting bottom of the Derbyshire Ladies League, scoring first in the tie through Amelia Horwood seven minutes in.

Pride Park then levelled the scoring in the 14th minute of play.

A strong Duffield first half kept the visitors at bay, leaving the tie level at 1-1 into the break.

Three quick fire goals after the restart saw the champions take the lead however, with their attacking display showing just why they were deserving league winners.

Two more goals followed for Pride Park, increasing their advantage on the day to 6-1.

It was Duffield who then came the closest to scoring, with winger Katie Potts’ shot from close range saved by the goalkeeper late on.

The scoreline remained in Pride Parks favour, adding another victory to their impressive 22 game unbeaten run.

With two games remaining for Duffield, in what was a tough year for the team, all efforts will be looking towards an exciting campaign next season, with Sunday’s performance certainly something to build upon.

A spirited Duffield side suffered a 5-1 defeat to fourth-place Draycott Victoria, despite a relatively even encounter.

After having their previous two matches postponed, Duffield returned to league action at Eyes Meadow this afternoon.

Draycott Victoria came into the fixture off the back of an emphatic 7-0 Ladies Plate cup final triumph last weekend.

It was the visitors who started on the front foot, taking the lead in third minute of play when a low-drilled cross was prodded home.

It didn’t take Duffield long to react however, with striker Lucy Cunningham adding to her seasons tally eight minutes later, reacting to Florence Wakefield’s cross excellently guiding the ball home with the outside of her boot.

A Draycott double minutes before half-time saw the visitors enter the break with a two goal advantage.

Duffield looked the likely scorers early in the second half, with chances falling to each member of their front line.

The scoreline remained 3-1 however, with the games next goal looking to be crucial for both sets of players.

It was the visitors who scored next, adding another in the 81st minute, taking a three-goal cushion in the remaining ten minutes.

A stoppage-time finish by Draycott’s Joanne Campbell sealed the victory for the away side, adding their fifth of the afternoon.

A Draycott Victoria red card in the games conclusion left the match ending on a sour note, following an unsavoury incident in the dying seconds.

Duffield’s fight proved not enough, with Draycott taking all three points, seeing them move into third place in the Derbyshire Ladies League, Division One.

Duffield are back in action next weekend, where they face a young Chesterfield Development.
