On Saturday evening, some of our Ladies section swapped their boots for their glad rags and attended the annual Senior End of Season Awards.🥂✨
It’s been a challenging but rewarding season for Belper Ladies. We started the year struggling to field a full squad and finished it with an incredible influx of new faces, new friendships, and a team that has grown stronger week after week. The awards night gave us the perfect opportunity to celebrate not only individual achievements, but every step of growth, resilience, and perseverance shown throughout the season.
🏆 Player of the Year 2025/26 – Ava Playle
This will come as no surprise to anyone. Ava has been instrumental throughout the season, putting in huge hits, covering numerous positions, demonstrating exceptional game knowledge, slotting conversions, and dominating in the lineout. Her commitment, versatility, and consistency have made her a pivotal part of the squad, and this award is thoroughly deserved.
🏆 Players’ Player 2025/26 – Leah Knapgate
Following in her mother’s footsteps, who won this award herself years ago, Leah takes home the Players’ Player award. A joy both on and off the pitch, Leah has had a fantastic season, combining massive kicks, quick feet, and powerful tackles with a warm and welcoming attitude that has helped so many of our new players settle into the team.
🏆 Newcomer of the Year – Beth Rains
No surprises here either. In her very first season of rugby, Beth has been nothing short of phenomenal. From day one she has thrown herself into the game with fearless tackles, powerful carries, and a determination that cannot be taught. She has been a huge asset to the team, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her (and no, we’re not letting her go anywhere!).
Congratulations to all our award winners, and thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, and supporter who has been part of our journey this season. Here’s to building on everything we’ve achieved and coming back even stronger next year. 🤍🖤🏉
