Instagram: Bellinghamgolfclub Bellingham Golf Club was founded in 1893 and was extended to 18 holes in 1996.

The new 9 holes were designed by Ian Wilson, the Secretary at the time. Ian also captained the club during its Centenary year of 1993 and was Club Champion at Bellingham 13 times, as well as former Champion at Backworth and Hexham. The Ladies captain for the Centenary year was Miss A.K Dunlop, with Mrs G Macdonald holding the captaincy in 1996 for the opening of the new 18 holes. The new 18 hole c

ourse was officially opened by the President of the Northumberland Golf Union, Barry Rodger, alongside course designer & secretary Ian Wilson, Club Captain Lenny Batey and project manager Bill Curry. The entire project was made possible by grants received from The National Lottery Sports Fund, European Regional Development Fund, Tynedale Council, The R & A and also the tireless work of everyone involved at the time. Bellingham has played host to many great golfers over the years with Ian Wilson, David Curry (British Amateur Champion 1986) and George Cowan (Northumberland County Champion 2006). Will Robson is the best of the current crop having recently returned from a scholarship in America, where he was ranked as No1 in the University of Kansas-Missouri team, helping them win their first ever conference - The Summit League in 2011. The current course record was set by Ryan Hyland, 16 years old at the time, with a fantastic 63 scored in the 2006 Ford Trophy.

Tyneside 8 - 4 Bellingham

All in all a good few points away at Tyneside last night as once again the results came from the tail end of the team. Jonny continues his excellent winning form, while Andy was 3 down with 4 to play and won on the 18th. Winning 15-16-17 before driving the 380 yard par 4 18th, a two putt birdie was enough for a superb win by him πŸ‘Œ

Thanks to the captains and players at Tyneside, and especially the greens staff. You won’t find better putting surfaces all season so hats off to them πŸ‘πŸΌβ›³οΈ

Next game HOME vs Prudhoe, Wednesday 17th June.

Not to be denied after last weeks 2nd place, Andy put together a lovely round of 71 to win on Sunday and warrant a spot in the upcoming Hadrian League match vs Tyneside.

This weeks post is sponsored by a couple of our favourite ladies in the village. Kate and her team at The Post Office, and Charlotte and hers at Bellingham Country Store do plenty to help us out when we come calling, together they are an essential part of the village and love to help anyone out πŸ€—

Davison Cup Round 2 πŸ†

Bamburgh Castle 4 - 1 Bellingham

A lovely night up the coast on Monday but sadly it brought an end to our cup campaign. We wish the team from Bamburgh all the best this season!

Longhirst Hall 12 - 0 Bellingham

Last night we sent a heavily depleated squad to Longhirst missing 4 regulars. Despite 4 of the matches going our way after 9 holes we ended up on the wrong side of a bashing. We wish The Longhirst Club well for all the changes they’re making to their layout, and look forward to seeing their project develop in the coming years ⛳️

A great score from one of our newer lady members Clare on Saturday, who recorded 2 birdies in the last 5 holes to win in style.

Thankfully temperatures look to pick up this week after a bitterly cold fortnight. Our Hadrian League team travel to Bamburgh Castle tonight for round 2 of the Davison Cup, before a trip to Longhirt on Wednesday. Our seniors travel to Duns on Thursday for a friendly Inter Club Texas Scramble.

This weeks post is sponsored by Riverdale Hall Hotel Ltd. Throughout the summer they do such a great job of looking after a large number of golf groups that come to play at Bellingham. Make sure to contact them if you’re thinking of travelling up to stay and play with us! πŸ›Œβ›³οΈ

Bellingham 5 - 7 Matfen Hall

Another narrow home defeat as we played a great bunch of guys from Matfen Hall last night. Next week we have our first away game of the season as we travel to Longhirst, not before we play Bamburgh Castle away in round 2 of Davison Cup on Monday evening! 🏰

Ladies 4th Division Shield πŸŒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Our ladies started their campaign strongly with a good home win on Monday night.

A dry but cold week as we still wait for temperatures to pick up, with any real growth still being stunted by frosts towards the middle of May. More matches this week as our Ladies League team begin their campaign today against City Of Newcastle III, our Hadrian League team host Matfen Hall on Wednesday and our Seniors have their first friendly of 2026 vs Allendale on Thursday.

This weeks sponsor is North Tyne Fencing. Leigh has been a great help already this season by keeping all our junior members competitive, taking them out a couple of times now to play amongst eachother. We hope to get the Senior/Junior Trophy schedule into the fixture list so keep an eye out for a future date. Thanks to all others who have offered their time to take our juniors onto the course ⛳️

Bellingham 5-7 Hexham

Last night we started our league campaign and collected some good points at home against last years runners up. Missing a few of our regulars, a big thanks to those who filled the gaps. Well done to Hexham and we wish Martin and his team all the best for 2026!

Next game @ HOME vs Matfen on Wednesday May 13th ⛳️

On Friday we also played Ponteland in R1 of the Davison Cup, winning the tie 3.5 - 1.5. The draw for round 2 sees us make the journey further north to play against Bamburgh Castle.
