Bellingham Golf Club Est. 1893
Instagram: Bellinghamgolfclub Bellingham Golf Club was founded in 1893 and was extended to 18 holes in 1996.

The new 9 holes were designed by Ian Wilson, the Secretary at the time. Ian also captained the club during its Centenary year of 1993 and was Club Champion at Bellingham 13 times, as well as former Champion at Backworth and Hexham. The Ladies captain for the Centenary year was Miss A.K Dunlop, with Mrs G Macdonald holding the captaincy in 1996 for the opening of the new 18 holes. The new 18 hole c

ourse was officially opened by the President of the Northumberland Golf Union, Barry Rodger, alongside course designer & secretary Ian Wilson, Club Captain Lenny Batey and project manager Bill Curry. The entire project was made possible by grants received from The National Lottery Sports Fund, European Regional Development Fund, Tynedale Council, The R & A and also the tireless work of everyone involved at the time. Bellingham has played host to many great golfers over the years with Ian Wilson, David Curry (British Amateur Champion 1986) and George Cowan (Northumberland County Champion 2006). Will Robson is the best of the current crop having recently returned from a scholarship in America, where he was ranked as No1 in the University of Kansas-Missouri team, helping them win their first ever conference - The Summit League in 2011. The current course record was set by Ryan Hyland, 16 years old at the time, with a fantastic 63 scored in the 2006 Ford Trophy.

Another day of low scoring as yesterday’s forecasted thunderstorms never materialised. A quiet week for the most part as showers look lilely, before we end the week with the Mixed Open on Sunday ⛳️

A remarkable 7 way tie on 44 points for our third and final Seniors Open of 2026, with scores being seperated on countback. Another fantastic entry, thanks to all visitors and members who have supported over the season. All three opens have seen over 400 entries πŸ‘πŸΌ

And again thanks to all volunteers this year, card markers, car parkers and those on the desk for the full day. Doesn’t happen without your help πŸ‘Œ

A remarkable win for Roger, who only in May suffered a major heart attack and was incredibly fortunate to still be with us. A few months later he completed 18 holes and just yesterday records his lowest ever gross score to win the Arcot Cup πŸ‘πŸΌ

A busy week last week and there’s no stopping the next few days. Societies on Monday & Tuesday, 140 for our Seniors Open on Wednesday and a seniors friendly on Thursday ⛳️

Our Ladies Shield team ended the season with their only a defeat of the year, a 6.5 - 0.5 loss away to Whitley Bay II Ladies. Well done to the team from Whitley Bay as they would ultimately win the division and earn promotion. Still a very good 3rd place finish for our Ladies as they remain in the 4th division for 2027 πŸ‘πŸΌ

BGC Ryder Cup πŸ†β›³οΈ

πŸ”΄ Reivers 15.5 - 14.5 Centurions πŸ”΅

The closest result in recent years, as a full weekend of golf came down to the final pairings on Sunday afternoon. A sprited fightback by the Centurions in the Singles made for a tense finale, but in the end it was Graham Shaw who had the winning moment on the 17th green, as the Reivers retain the BGC Ryder Cup.

This year we introduced a live scoring system, fantastic software created by vice captain Andy Chard. It was tracked all over the world with members reporting in from the likes of Montenegro and Benidorm to track the progress over the weekend. We hope you all enjoyed following the action wherever you were!πŸŒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

It was great to see another several golfers introduced to both teams this year, leaving the competition in a very healthy position going forward. Thanks to all who keep taking part πŸ‘πŸΌ

MVP: 😎
Gary Stanford 3-0-0
Andy Chard 3-0-1

Hadrian League πŸŒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Ryton 9 - 3 Bellingham
Westerhope 8 - 4 Bellingham
Bellingham 7 - 5 High Gosforth Park

After a couple of disappointing away results we still had an outside chance of silverware last night in the Hadrian League Plate, but fell just short despite a 7-5 win to finish the season. Well done to the guys at High Gosforth Park for picking up the trophy themselves πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ†

Credit again to all team members for showing up this year, keeping us competitive around the county week in week out. Not easy being the smallest club in the league but we keep performing and have a great time everywhere we go. And to captain David for all he has done this year supporting the lads, it’s a hell of a commitment and he hasn’t let us down at all 🀝

Thanks as always to the Hadrian Golf League yet again for a summer of competitive golf, we look forward to the Awards Night where we’ll be picking up the Hadrian League Challenge Cup πŸ†

Another hectic week tucked away, with close to 400 visitors coming to play our course these last few days. Tuesday’s Northumberland 3 Day Event was again a huge success, whilst Friday we hosted the Michael Almond Brain Tumour Charity Golf Day. Since it’s opening year Mary and her team have helped raise Β£117,454 for The Brain Tumour Charity, a tremendous effort πŸ‘πŸΌ Plenty of members competitions, visitors and societies scattered through the week help to see us through August ⛳️

Today our Ladies travel to Whitley Bay for their final league game, with promotion hanging in the balance. Whilst on Wednesday our Hadrian League team host High Gosforth Park, with both teams fighting for the Hadrian League Plate in their final match of the season.

More societies arriving this week from Wednesday onwards before the weekend closes with the BGC Ryder Cup πŸ†πŸ”΅πŸ”΄
